20 will definitely be tough at this point, although not completely impossible if he gets very hot and also gets run support. The win total was never really the point. The Boston kid's prediction would have been one of the best seasons ever on a pretty bad team. There is no denying that Greinke has turned a corner and is a legit pitcher in this league though. If he keeps his head on straight, I see no reason why he won't be an ace for years.

I think it was Tom Verducci who pointed out that only ten or so pitchers (he named them and I will try to find them) have ever struck out 200 or more batters and walked 40 or less batters in a season. Greinke has a shot at that.
I wasn't a big Cliff Lee believer but he's backed up last year with another very good year. I want to see more out of Grienke before I'm truly convinced but he's been sensational to this point but never thought he would get 20 or even come close on this bad of a team. They were playing "decent" ball earlier in the year, now they have come back down to life and are playing the terrible ball we all expected. I would be stunned if he get to 20 or even a few games within 20 but it's certainly possible and if he gets 20 on this team it would be INCREDIBLE.

Greinke 10-7 2.36 ERA

Since the 6-0 start he is 4-7 with a very good still 3.19 ERA.

Anyone who thought he'd win 18-20 games on the Royals was absolutely lost. I'm shocked is ERA didn't jump above 3, I'd figure he'd be close to the mid 3's by the end of the year.

5 scoreless today drops his ERA to 2.14. and will end up 14-8 after the game ends. Sill has a couple starts left too.

Great year, but with that being said I'd give the Cy Young to King Felix.

If I am voting for a guy with a somewhat low number of wins as far as Cy Young Award winners goes, I am voting Greinke over King Felix. That's not to say Felix isn't having a great season, but Greinke's has been unbelievable with a terrible team behind him.

Cy Greinke shut down Boston tonight. His ERA is down to a sparkling 2.08 and his record stands at 15-8.

After last nights performance against the Red Sox and now improving to 15-8, I think Greinke has the cy young locked up.

Zack Greinke, Royals, 25, 134
Felix Hernandez, Mariners, 2, 80
Justin Verlander, Tigers, 1, 14

My vote would have been for King Felix. But I can't argue with the choice.

I saw it replayed just now. He's a very socially awkward fella. You can still see some signs of his mental issues. He doesn't seem comfortable in his own skin.

In other words the worst guy to bring to NY. Didn't the Yanks draft his brother a couple of years back?

I wouldn't be shocked if he was 12-12 with a 4 plus ERA next year. I certainly wouldn't want this guy pitching in New York, unless it's for the Muets.

As much as I like him as a pitcher, I actually agree. I'd be very worried about him in the big spotlight, not because of his talent or stuff, but his head. He needs to stay in smaller markets the rest of his career. You could still win in places like St. Louis and not have to step foot in the home clubhouse of places like Boston, Philly or New York.

His brother already quit or was let go. He pitched one season for Staten Island.

You know how they mentioned his wedding being this weekend? Check out who he is marrying.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:

Greinke is engaged to Miss Daytona Beach USA 2008 Emily Kuchar.[8] Greinke met Kuchar in high school at Apopka High School, Kuchar is a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

You know she's all about the money. No woman who is that hot would, in her right mind, marry a bumbling depressed retard like him. He appears to have the toughness of a 5 year old.

The only thing in her defense is that she met him in high school.
