I'm pleased. I don't know if the Browns would still be willing to move Braylon Edwards (with Donte Stallworth f*cking up), but I would try to get that deal done. The rumored deal was a 2nd (Saints), a 5th and Steve Smith. At this point, I think I'd do it. You lose a reliable slot man in Smith, but you get a 26-year-old guy who's similar to Burress and, at his best, is better. Hixon becomes your #2 and the hope is that Manningam steps up (he's dumb and doesn't have great hands, so he won't be able to do what Smith does, but maybe he's used differenlty) or they draft a slot receiver. Or get Kevin Boss more involved and use him as the underneath man. Or, since nobody has shown interest in Marvin Harrison, sign him for cheap. He can be the wily, sharp route-running target on third downs.

Perhaps a team should wait to see if he lands in jail for any period of time and/or how long the NFL may suspend him before signing him, Vin?? If he's free and clear, I'd probably still want him, even though it goes against my moral instincts.

I can understand wanting Holt but I want nothing to do with Burress after what he's pulled. Great player and if he were the only option out there and it was a guarantee he'd be playing this season, I'd be for signing him, but when there are other good receivers out there, I've got no problem with not going after Plax.

I'd sign him while he's in the slammer at this point, we need a big WR, even if he is in jail. :crazy2:

Sadly I do agree with you to a certain point. I still wouldn't sign Plax, but we do need a no. 1 WR, no dought.

At first I felt bad for the guy. At the end of the day, all he did was shoot HIMSELF in the leg. The bigger, hypocritial criminal Bloomberg seemed to take this case as a way of pushing himself as being tough on crime at Plaxico's expense. But after the way he behaved since, fighting for his money from the Giants tooth and nail, that police incident in Florida, acting like there was no way he would serve jail, and not agreeing to renegotiate, I hope he gets serious jailtime and his career is over.

By the way. What the f*ck was with teams and rumors swirling showing interest in Plaxico after he was released? The guy was basically guaranteed a year in because of Bloomberg's words following the incident and a suspension from Goodell. Now, with Plaxico's stubborness and not getting jailed ASAP, he's gotta go trial, which will take more time and cost him more in the slammer, and get suspended.

I agree with you. I feel less sympathy for him because I didn't like him and if he went unpunished his dumbassedry would've continued unabated, but I do think the prosecution and Bloomberg are being dicks. There should be a separation, like illegal gun possession and criminal gun possession (something like that). There should be a delineation and room for legal discretion. A criminal with a gun is trying to stick somebody up or who's likely to use it in a shootout with cops or rival dealers and sh*t. Plaxico is just a f*cking moron with a unlicensed pistol whose intent wasn't to hurt anyone. His reason for carrying a gun (which was registered in Florida, so it's not like he bought it for $400 off Raheem in Brooklyn) was protection, and probably to act hard like, "Yeah, nucca, I stay strapped." He isn't a threat to society. If they wanna clean something up, go do a gun raid in Washington Heights. They're using Plaxico as a platform to flex and talk tough.
