#1 ATCQ fan! When will they be back?!

I think Q-Tip, Phife, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad need to get back together for one more go-around. At least, a final CD. If EPMD can do it, why can't the 'Tribe'? |

Tribe hasn't been relevant in over 10 years and they've been surpassed (by a lot) by younger abstract/conscious rappers so it doesn't even matter. You listen to some Q-Tip sh*t after hearing Lupe and you're gonna give it the screwface. So f*ck Tribe. Cop that "Padded Room" on Tuesday. I haven't bought an album in over four years, but I'm gonna by the Joe Budden even though I've heard most of the tracks already. |

Without question they need to. It's a shame, De La has stayed together all these years, they even put out a real good album about 4 years ago "The Grind Date" but unfortuantely we haven't got anything from Tribe since the White Album (The Love Movement) back in October of 1998. I've heard rumours that they were talking about getting back together, and that sh*t was in the works, but nothing. Anyway, cop Q-Tips new album, pretty damn good sh*t. Not as good as the "unreleased" Kamaal The ABstract album that leaked over the net back in 02 I think it was, maybe early 03, that sh*t was tight but Arista didn't release it for various reasons. Good sh*t. |

Striz is right about Lupe, kid is f*cking ill. I got his first two CD's, didn't buy them but burned them, tight sh*t, especially the first. There are a lot of conscious rappers who have come out, but all stems from Q and Tribe, gotta love that sh*t. As far as Buddens goes, STriz you've been praising that cat for some time. All I think about when I hear his name is "Pump It Up" which to me was a terrible overplayed single. Again, that's all I've really heard though. I need to listen to his whole first album I guess before I judge him. The game has changed, I'm just not into hip hop like I was because honestly there is nothing good really coming out anymore and if there is it's so underground it's hard to find and I can't be bothered to dig and look like I used to. I still rock my sh*t that I have on my computer and up in a closet on CDs. I probably have over 300 CDs I've just some classic sh*t (in my mind at least) some sh*t I never even listened to because when you have kids and a job (which now I don't, lol.) and games to watch, sometimes it's hard to find time to listen to music. No doubt, hip hop will always be my love. |

Whoever says no has no love for real hip hop or just doesn't like hip hop. This is a clear yes, Tribe makes Chubb Dance. |

After I posted, I was just waiting for Vin to pop in and defend Tribe. It took a few days though. What happened? |

I forgot when I first posted. Tip was on Hot 97 last summer, promoting the album, and he said Tribe won't be getting back together. He said there was some beef between a couple of them, and it's been squashed, but he doesn't see them doing music together again. Budden doesn't even like "Pump It Up." He doesn't perform it at his shows and he hates being known as the PumpItUpGuy. I hear the same thing from so many people. They heard the first single, thought he was another generic commercial dude, and passed on him. Trust me, you'd love his stuff. He's conscious, introspective, deep and nasty; sick with the metaphors. Listen to anything off any of the "Mood Muzik" mixtapes (they were released as mixtapes, but were more like albums, since Def Jam wasn't putting out "The Growth.") You hear enough of Budden's real sh*t, it raises the bar for what you expect from rappers. Hell, even listen to his "Who Killed Hip Hop" series. It's three separate songs, but each is a continuation of the previous, where he just rips on all the stupid sh*t and stupid people who embarass the genre. Altogether, it's like 16 minutes of truth spitting. Just YouTube the stuff and check it out. Also, he's created a group with Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce 5'9". Those four are like the starting lineup for the underrated greats. Give him a shot. You won't be disappointed. And YouTube "Joe Budden TV." It's his personal videos of him in the house, in the studio, at Burger King, doing regular-guy sh*t. Most of them are funny. And most of the videos feature his girl. Posted Image If you're into that kinda thing. |

Ha ha, I've been sleeping on the music forum so that's why it took me so long to respond. NOt much goes on in here anymore but I must say, once I saw you bashing Tribe you know I had to step up for my boys!!! Anyway, I will no doubt check out Budden on youtube. I've heard good things about him from a lot of people, it's unfortunate for him that he gets labeled like he does with that Pump It Up song. |
