Lowe is a soft lesbian

Lowe can feck off. He's a weak sista. I want no part of him on our team. He puts up those numbers in the softest division in the girl's league, but in reality, he's no better than a #4 in the AL and he'll want #1 money.

Get me Sabathia, Burnett and Tex.

The myth that Derek Lowe is a big time pitcher never would've existed if the gutless 2004 Yankee team had done their job and closed out the Red Sox after getting up 3-0.

Thing is, if we miss on Sabathia and Burnett, Lowe may be the best option. I wouldn't be thrilled with it, but two years for him might be the only way we can go. Look at what else is out there on the free agent market, it isn't pretty. We could try to package Cano and get some rotation help but what team is going to trade a young ace-type pitcher for a lazy slob?

I think if you can't get Sabathia, you hold off and say "f*ck it." It's like going to the supermarket for Kiwi-Strawberry Snapple and you find out it's sold out. All that's there is Diet Orange-Carrot. You don't think, "Well, I did come out to get Snapple. Doesn't sound like a flavor I'd like, but I'd rather not leave empty-handed." Because it is Snapple, but it's not what you like. That sh*t won't complement your dinner. You'll sip it and be like, "Ehhh." The only time you buy Diet Orange-Carrot is when you're buying several bottles of Snapple. You load up on the Lemon Ice Tea, Mango Madness, Kiwi-Strawberry, Pomegranate-Raspberry and say, "Ah, heck. I'll give this flavor a try." Your expectations aren't high going in but you know that if it sucks, at least you've got bottles of good sh*t to fall back on. Sabathia is those bottles of Mango Madness. If they don't get him, chances are they're not gonna be great next year. And Derek Lowe doesn't lift a staff from so-so to great, or even very good. And there's a good chance that, like the Orange-Carrot, you'll wanna spit him out after two sips.

Enough metaphor... I'd be OK with the Lowe signing if they've got Sabathia and you know at least 3/5 of the rotation is butter and they just want him to help sure up the back end. If they don't get Sabathia (and I'm not including Sheets and Burnett in this because I don't want to take the chance on those injury-prone boys) and they're going into next year ace-less, it's almost pointless to add someone who'll probably top out at "solid" here (with potential to suck). Back to the metaphor: You're better off leaving the store empty-handed and saving your money for when you find what you really want.

The Jersey papers are talking about Peavy. If you can get Adrian Gonzalez back as well it could work. Maybe they look at Cano and one of those can't miss pitching prospects.

Well, you make a hell of a good point. Sadly I could see the Yankees going pretty hard after Lowe though.

Gonzalez makes 3 mill next year and 4.75 the year after. That's peanuts..doesn't make sense for the Pads to deal him.

I've seen the way he's carried himself on the mound at times, the body language, etc. He'd choke like some two bit whore in NY.

Yeah, just like he choked in pre-World Series winning Boston, which is a MUCH tougher place to play than NY. :-|

And Weaver pitched well for the Cards...even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

Comparing Detroit with New York and Boston is beyond stupid. They are on their phones checking out what free agents the Flyers or Pistons signed during Tigers games.
