Jeter should've been the first one mentioned. It's amazing how he avoids the fans' wrath because of what he did eight years ago.

It really is pathetic. If Jeter had done what A-Rod did last night (actually, he's done it often this year) nobody would have said peep. A-Rod does it, and he's on the front and back covers of the papers and being called "Double Play-Rod." Jeter is the king of rally killing DP's.

A-Rod had a terrible game, and is having a shitty season driving in runs, but Pettitte is the one who gave up 6 f*cking runs to a Red Sox team missing half it's lineup. Reading the papers, you could hardly tell Pettitte had another gutless start. It was all A-Rod, A-Rod, A-Rod.

Pretty much. And all we have to do is look at MM's most recent post to see why people like Jeter and Pettitte don't get blamed. Jeter has killed rallies more times than anybody on this team this season with his bullshit halfswings and grounding into DPs, but MM finds a way to say A-Rod and Giambi are bigger problems. :-|

You expect a lot more out of A-Rod because he's the big gun. Especially coming off of last year you expect more. And when he fails time and time again, the fans react.

Jeter has made his legacy here, A-Rod hasn't. Jeter has always repped the pinstripes well, never embarrassed the organization. A-Rod is a drama queen.

Cause you got nothing.

Lets put another spin on it..you guys blame certain players for everything. YF has hated Pettitte since he left after the '03 season. And I haven't defended Pettitte once this year no matter what he says. Jeter has been awful this year and was awful in last year's playoffs. The difference between me and you bozos is you don't look at things like they really are. For that matter I've never heard YF defend a player. He hates them all.

Post some more about Jeter's legacy. What he did 10 years ago does not give him a lifetime pass to suck. And that's what he's done here the last couple of years. He's sucked. A punch and judy singles hitter who slaps his way to a .300 average. He isn't as clutch as myth would have it. He's not a good SS. He has no speed anymore. And he's making $22 million dollars.

If he was a free agent signing and put up what he's put up the last few years he would be getting MURDERED. But because he was a part of a dynasty that brought tears to old mens eyes, he gets excused.

You can try and be rational all you want by saying "He's had a bad year, etc." Of course he's had a bad year! The fact is you never say anything bad about Jeter unless you have to, like you are doing in this thread. If there is a Game Thead going on and Jeter grounds into a big DP, you will say nothing. If A-Rod, Giambi, Abreu, or anybody else grounds into a big DP, you will make a post in anger. It's really obvious and has been going on all year.

Agreed....but based on the fact that he HAS done something in Pinstripes....he doesn't get as much grief in my eyes as A Fraud and Giambi, Abreu,Cano etc.....those clowns have taken the money and done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for the franchise in ANY WAY except cash their paychecks!!!!! Sadly....that's Jeter's current situation as well.

I agree with you to a point. I don't believe that the guys that helped win championships - Jeter, Mo, Pettitte - should be given as rough a time. Same for when Bernie was here. Posada is another story, since I was never a big fan of his. These guys help bring us 4 world series, so why should I sh*t all over them?

Giambi is a nice guy, but what has he done here? I don't want to hear about his f*cking OPS. He's been an overall disappointment. A-Rod? great individual, lousy team player..what has he won, ever? He's a f*cking drama queen.

I've always been that way. People started booing Righetti at the end of his Yankees career. It was nonsense.

There's no question that Jeter would be treated differently if he came from somewhere else, but the point is he hasn't. Some of you bozos blame him for everything. Rasner can go out and lose 9-0 and one of you will say, Jeter is to blame. It's nonsense.

Agreed.

I'm willing to rip on the current performances of players like Jeter and Pettitte, but unwilling to destroy their Yankees careers because they've struggled this year. Mo sucks in tie games, but the posts here focus on how overrated his entire career has been. Hyberole is the name of the game with the VC and the recent VC-wannabe, Fat Rob.

A-Rod is a great player, but in addition to his struggles, he hasn't won a thing for me as a fan. Giambi, while not completely useless during his time here, has been a disappointment overall and hasn't won a thing for me as a fan. Of course I am going to cut more slack to guys who have, but I certainly get pissed at them too when they deserve it. I just don't spit on their Yankee careers.

Mo deserves a pass. He's had an awesome career and this year he's been decent for the most part. Certainly the least of our worries. :peace:
