Pettitte No Longer Wants To Pitch To I-Rod In what appears to have been a quiet story but definitely an interesting one, Andy Pettitte has asked that Jose Molina become his personal catcher. According to the New York Journal News, Pettitte asked to no longer throw to catcher Ivan Rodriquez after his miserable outing on July 31st against the Anaheim Angels. On that night, Pettitte just never looked comfortable in going 5 1/3 innings, giving up 11 hits, and 9 earned runs. Furthermore, Pettitte threw an uncharacteristic 48 balls and only 62 strikes in his 110 pitch outing. This is not to take anything away from what might be the best team in baseball in the Angels, but chemistry can not be discounted in baseball. If a pitcher does not feel comfortable throwing to a particular catcher, has to continuously shake him off, this will result in no confidence with disaster on the horizon. Pettitte, is a pitcher who is always focused and locked in on the mound but frequently fell behind Angel batters on that night. Consequently, Pettitte was forced into hitters counts and simply got pounded by a very good hitting team. Vying for a playoff spot and with time running out, the last thing that the Yankees need is for one of their aces and big time pitchers to not feel uncomfortable when he takes the mound. |

Pudge reminded me of Posada almost instantly behind the plate when he first started for us. Bad pitch selection, bad framing, inaccurate throwing. Not surprised with this story. He had a bad rep anyways in Texas for sacrificing pitchers for his caught stealing percentage. There was always a gap in ERA between him and backups. His reputation got bolstered by the Marlins championship, but it's kind of hard to f*ck up the kind of arms he had there in hindsight. |

Molina has been catching Moose and Pettitte, which is really the perfect two out of every five games platoon situation, and what I wanted from the beginning when all of the articles were saying Pudge would be the starter. I'm still in favor of the deal because he's an upgrade over Moeller despite what he has shown, but Pudge is shot. |

By the way, I am going tonight, and will be wearing my Molina jersey. |

Obviously I was kidding. If I owned a #26 jersey, it would be for El Duque, or even Steve Farr, before Molina! I'm just going and will only be wearing a Yankees cap. |

Whatever he thinks will help him, but eventhough I'm not a big fan of Pudge (actually I've hated him since he's been here and don't want him re-signed this offseason) I refuse to put Pettitte's miserable second half all on him not being comfortable who he's throwing to. Pettitte just needs to go out there and not pitch like a gutless piece of garbage, period. I'm sick and tired of excuses from all these overpaid assholes on this team. |

Pettitte had consecutive terrible starts, but other than those two, he hasn't really had a miserable second half. Hopefully this switch back to Molina will continue to do the trick. |

Yeah, it was very evident from that first night against the Angels that those two weren't clicking and probably never were going to click. I'm sure all of our pitchers would rather throw to Cool Cat Molina if they could. |

Pettitte is a stupid cheating son of a bitch. He's been smacked around with Posada behind the plate, with Molina behind the plate, and with Pudge behind the plate. He needs to shut his stupid filthy cheating mouth and earn his $16 million dollars. There is NO WAY I bring this asshole back next season. It's the perfect offseason to get rid of the old stale garbage, and Pettitte is among the sh*t that needs to go. |

I agree, bring Moose back but not Pettitte. Go into next year with a staff like this.... CC Wang Joba Burnett Mussina Hughes...Rasner...maybe even Ponson as other options for emergency purposes but the above 5 should be in our rotation. |

Stop it. This isn't 1999. Pettitte is no longer on HGH. He sucks, he's washed up. His second half has been terrible. Him complaining and bitching about who's catching him is a joke. If it was anybody else bitching about the catcher he would be killed by sunshiners like you and MM. Instead, MM is telling people to "shut up" because he can't admit how much Pettitte is wrong here, and you are sugar-coating his second half. All because he pitched some great games for us a decade ago (which are tarnished because he's a juicing, cheating, bastard). |

Pettitte was horrendous and I certainly didn't need a text from Fat Rob to tell me so. Druew forwarded it to me after I rejected the request for my digits. |

WTF are you talking about? WHere do you see me defending Pettitte? I just like calling YF an idiot. Pettitte has been miserable this year, especially in big spots. I don't need some high talker to tell me that. |
