Hughes struggled again at Triple-A on Friday night, needing 86 pitches to complete 3.1 innings. Starting for Scranton was star blogger Phil Hughes and he gave up 8 earned runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings of work for the no decision. Well Homie, at least he has a promising career in blogging...

I'll be honest, I'm not ready to give up but I don't have a good feeling Hughes will ever be anything more then maybe a decent starter. At this point if he could be a solid end of the rotation guy I'd be shocked. Long way to go and way to early to speculate though . He's still a young man.

He's 22 years old and has been injured. At this point I am more worried about his injuries than if he will develop. I'll reserve my judgement until after he's put together a couple of injury-free (hopefully) seasons in the big leagues.

Well that's part of it, he could just be a talented young man who will be constantly injured.

That's a very legitimate concern. I just don't really want to hear anyone ever talk about any minor leaguers if they're going to give up as quickly as people like YB and Rob (now that he's not the biggest sunshiner of the boards) do.

You know maybe if Hughes had actually shown some promise this year rather than pitching like a scared bitch every time out people would still have some confidence in him. All I saw this year was a guy who took no steps forward and 5 back.

After a nice little start he's been GOD AWFUL!!1 BRUTAL. Anyway, nice win today. They almost f*cking blew it, but Cano with a huge HR and Marte and Mo were GREAT. Way to go, now this could be the last "big" games we play for the rest of the year. It's make or break time. We almost are in a spot where we have to sweep though, and that's tough. We catch a HUGE break not facing Beckett and luckily we have Ponson against Byrd which is a wash, maybe that favors them a little. I like PEttitte against Wakefield and we see one of their best in Lester against our best this year in Moose. All 2 out of 3 does is gain us a game, obviously I could live with that, but we have to sweep pretty much. If we lose 2 of 3 or get swept, OUCH. Big series coming up. :bag:

We need to sweep.

Angels and Twins tied at 3 in the bottom of the 8th. An gels have the go ahead run at 3rd with less then 2 outs and just got it in on a double by matthews. Angels lead!

He might turn it around but we should have traded him for Santana when we had the chance (sell high). As it is, I'd definitely trade that soft little SoCal Biatch right now to the O's for Guthrie. :no1:

Yeah, but most of us at the time didn't want to make that deal so I can't get on Cashman or the Yanks for holding on to him. I wanted to keep him as well. Hindsight baby.

So you'd deal him for a guy who didn't even show up in a rotation until he was 28 and didn't win double digit games until this year at 29?

Unfortunately that is a word that we've had to use entirely too much around these parts the last few years. I wish for once these assholes we trade for/sign/call up would stop being gutless f*cking pieces of sh*t.

Yes. Guthrie certainly is the better pitcher now and I believe he will be in the future as well. :peace:

Trading Hughes for a pitcher that's going to be 30 years old by opening day next season is beyond stupid.

Not to mention I am not overly impressed with him at all.

Guthrie and his 17-15 career record at age 29 must be YB's flavor of the week.

Hughes has sucked and will continue to suck (not that I want him to). It's just Fate, just like Gardner will continue to suck as a hitter (as I also predicted)...

The Great & Powerful YB has spoken.
