The attack follows one of the top 10 matches of all time ...masterful...over the top....brutal...and a great segway to ending one feud to another....Steamboat would fade off the NWA map after this....

Funk really could look foolish when he wrestled, but he could work. I wonder how those punches of his feel. It doesn't seem he pulls back on them and he's a pretty tough dude. I'd bet Flair was seeing stars

yep - they respected Funk though - take a look at those chops from Flair and punches to Steamboats knee....

I'd imagine Flair's chops weren't near as painful as a lot of workers. They were loud, but they didn't have that thud to them. Someone I knew wrestled Greg the Hammer Valentine. When he chopped him, his chest was covered in puss the next week. I doubt Flair left a lasting impression on wrestlers with all his chops aside from some blood vessel bursts

Chops are Chops - you need to take them for the sound effect - Flair chopped Triple H into pulp in one of his last big matches - you could see the welts on HHH's body.
I think Flair was a clean, overly hardworker that most likely hurt very few people in the ring.

Sometimes though the louder the chop, the less painful they are. There can be an art to it, which I think Flair was great at. Also, I don't think Flair was really a tough guy aside from as a bumper and worker. I got the feeling Flair never really hurt people with them. When you go to a wrestling event, you can tell the guys that really make you feel pain with the chops. Not only do they have a slapping sound, they have a thud to them. Think of how in MMA, legkicks that have a slapping sound aren't as painful as the ones that connect firmly.
