Might as well keep tabs. Even when he's technically successful he lets this team down. That sac fly in the 7th, after we had 3rd and 1st one out and could have rallied. The best he could do was make an out in exchange for a run. In the 9th, when I knew Giambi would do cock, A-Rod gets a chance to tie with a hit or win it with an extra basehit. Instead, he hits the pussiest little nubber you can hit for an infield hit. From now on, I'm keeping track. I hate this scumshit so bad |

Vs KC- Has two ABs where he can win the game in extras. Strikes out and strands 2 runners with a weak groundout. |

I figured facing a contact pitcher he'd do what he does best, strikeout. He's the king of having ABs where he has the pitcher timed, only to make out anyways. |

A-Rod has a big game in a laugher. What a shock. That's what keeps his stats looking so well to the outsider |

He gets no credit for hitting the HR to tie it after Moose gave up 3 in the top of the first? He was supposed to know the game would become a laugher? |

Yeah seriously, that game could have went to hell quickly, especially with the way our bats look. That was a big HR in the 1st to tie the game right back up and give the offense some early life and get things rolling. Silliness, I'm tired of the A Rod bashing. Everything is always this guys fault. I understand the numbers and his lack of clutchness, but for everything to get pinned on this guy, is completely ridiculous. |

Ripping on his failures in big spots this year is fair game, but including yesterday is just a case of complaining for the sake of complaining. |

Mattingly, the point is that when they needed him to come up big the other night at CRUNCH time, late in the game, he FAILED YET AGAIN! I don't get why he deserves respect for yesterday, early game success is his MO...he has a very difficult time.......more than several other MLBers in tight close games late....that should be the focus....not his game tying early innings success...at least thats how I see it. And I am not faulting only him....there are several unclutch, overrated pieces of shet in this lineup who are worse, he's just an easier target due to his stature as a ballplayer. |

close and late stats fluctuate like crazy over the course of a players career. Its annoying when a player constantly doesn't come through in those spots, but it doesn't really prove anything except that day the closer/reliever was better than he was. I think a big problem with a lot of baseball fans is that they think they are watching a movie and not an athletic event. I could give a sh*t when A-Rod hits a game tying or go ahead homerun as long as he does it. This year A-Rod has been terrible in late innings, last year he was incredible in late innings. Jeter's close and late stats this year (in a down year) are great. A few years ago they were terrible. Does it suck? Of course. Is it a useful tool for determining future success? Not really. People call me a stat head, but I pretty much ignore splits like RISP and Close and Late. They change every year and in the end you basically get the players career numbers. |

I didn't say a thing about the other night, did I? I said his failures in big spots are fair game to criticize. I was replying to someone who ripped on his game yesterday, even though he's the one who tied it with a HR, and you replying with a "well done." |

For this year he absolutely deserves some bashing. The team has needed him to do what he did a season ago and he has failed almost every time. Now, that said NOBODY on this team, save for a couple, gets a pass. I want big, big changes. Get Manny in here for sure to take lots of the pressure off A-Rod. |

Do you personally feel that he deserves to be bashed for yesterday? (Like the other day, I'd like your opinion on it.) I agree he deserves it for the year, although it's a lot to expect him to put up ridiculous, MVP-type performances every year in terms of late inning greatness and other important spots. I'd like to see some huge years like 2007 with clutch numbers included, but can't expect it every season. Somewhere in between last year's clutchness and this year's failures in those spots would be nice in the years in which he doesn't put up unbelievable performances in those situations. Manny taking some pressure off him would be nice. |

Always blaming A Rod is silly, and bitching at him for playing well yesterday in a blowout when he hit a game tying HR in the first when the came could have fell apart was nice. Can't complain about yesterday, that's just stupid. |

Yesterday the team put up 15 runs, I didn't really have a problem with any of the hitters for the first time in a while. I'm talking about A-Rod's performance for the most part all year, not just any one game. We've needed A-Rod to carry this team this year and he just hasn't. Again, what has happened this season is not all his fault, at the same time, he certainly is part of the reason we don't have great hopes of making the postseason. |
