You're right on Darvish, Strider. I think I posted the highlight. At first I was looking at the results like an idiot. But really, his ball doesn't have great natural movement to it at all. I was blown away with Dice-K's highlights before he came here. Darvish doesn't really have impressive looking stuff, at least from those clips http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h26pkQpVB1IIf you see that slider as being anything less than dynamic you are blind.
It's good. It ain't great. The Japanese ballplayers swinging wildly at it are the joke of that clip. A slider is supposed to look like a strike and then break. A lot of times, those sliders never even appeared to be strikes. They also didn't have a dramatic break to them. They appeared slow and went down and away without much of a break. Watch when Joba eats up a lefty with a slider down and in, how the slider appears to be a strike and then totally breaks fast and sharp. Darvish don't have that. Hell, I can see a good lefty golfing one of those sliders out of the park. It certainly doesn't look very fast. A major league hitter could wait back on that. He could only get our hitters out on those. His fastball don't look anything special, and we all know, pitchers gotta play off their fastball in the bigs.
No speed? His slider averages 85 mph, the same as Joba. You wrote a big block of text analyzing something and not knowing what you are talking about. Darvish's secondary pitches might not be great, but his slider is awesome and that's not up for debate. Anybody who has seen him pitch, and who knows what they are talking about, will agree and have already agreed.
I've watched that clip you posted twice and I'll watch it again. Where exactly does his slider start off looking like a strike and break off the table? Maybe the speed is the same as Joba, I dunno, but the break to it certainly ain't impressing me.
Do you know nothing about baseball??? Do you really need to watch that clip again? Are you kidding me, right??? You can clearly see what Roberto is talking about, not very difficult!

Someone else has to see what I'm seeing. That slider is not breaking off the table or even coming in with the illusion of looking like a strike many times. It's good, I'm not saying it's crap. But you can see why he'd get such bad swings in Japan and then have Major Leaguers taking it for balls

Stop looking at the result, which is the batter whiffing wildly, and look at the projectory of the ball. A hitter has to be enticed with the pitch to think it's a nice hittable fastball for a strike. At what point does his slider look like it's coming to the middle of the plate? It just breaks from out of his hands.

It has that nice break to a lefty down and in to it ala Joba...if you can't see that you obviously are blind. That's a nasty slider, clearly!!!

A SLIDER TO A LEFTY HAS TO LOOK LIKE A STRIKE AT SOME POINT OR ELSE THEY"LL LAY OFF IT. Joba's comes in looking like a strike or it'll be on the corner and then drops when he's doing well. Aside from that slider at 21-22, where else are they?

The sliders at about 21 and 22 seconds down and in are straight nasty alone...........that caught my eye right off the bat.

That's not a slider. It looks like a well-located fastball. All the fastballs in that clip look like he hits his spots well with em. They just don't seem very snappy

Actually, I can't really tell. It might be a splitter. It didn't seem fast enough to be a fastball. Or even a changeup. They need the radar gun

How can you say that when you called that pitch a slider. It might be a bunch of things, but a slider it is not. Japanese baseball is so subpar to the pros. It has the down and away movement of a changeup. But it could be a fastball. Would have to see the MPH

I'm not even mad. I'm just wanting to talk about it. I like talking about specific pitches and whatnot. The more I watch the clips, the more I like his ability to hit corners with his fastball. But really, I'm not enthralled with the guy. Strider is right, as usual.

Strider and yourself need to stick more to football, Strider hardly even watches baseball so his opinion on this means jack sh*t and I'm sure he would agree as he has stated he gives up on baseball frequently and hardly watches.

Me too, but you don't forget what you've picked up watching. I can not watch baseball for 10 years, turn on a game and know what someone is throwing.

At about 1:15 to the great Inbaba he gets him as well to ground out weekly.
That's not a slider. It looks like a well-located fastball. All the fastballs in that clip look like he hits his spots well with em. They just don't seem very snappy
I looked at it once at gave you what I saw, I'll go back again but maybe I'm wrong, the picth on the weak ground out looked t me like a slider but could be off
How can you say that when you called that pitch a slider. It might be a bunch of things, but a slider it is not. Japanese baseball is so subpar to the pros. It has the down and away movement of a changeup. But it could be a fastball. Would have to see the MPH
Anybody who has any type of baseball eye and knowledge of the game can see that cat has some nasty sh*t. You obviously should stick to banging your head against a wall or some sort of MMA talk!
I'm not even mad. I'm just wanting to talk about it. I like talking about specific pitches and whatnot. The more I watch the clips, the more I like his ability to hit corners with his fastball. But really, I'm not enthralled with the guy. Strider is right, as usual.
Dude why are you so racist yet love Strider??? I remember how you used to bash blacks back in the day!

I wouldn't say I hate groups. I have an inclination to dislike groups. If I hated groups, it would bother me to see them. I guess I can say I hate gays, because I can see one and turn mad. I don't get worked up seeing blacks. Maybe a little scared(I'm a defeatest when it comes to blacks. I might be able to kick some of their asses, but I'd never want to try because I assume they throw punches like Tyson in his prime), but I'm not overcome with hatred. I guess the real practicing Jews I got a hatred for too. Not the people that are Jewish and go about their days, but the ones with the Yamikas on and so forth.
My best friend is black though, albeit raised by a white family. I don't hold being black against people nearly as bad as others I know.
Also, in the heat of a game, I bash anyone based on their ethnicity. I would call Baldelli a whop when he'd hit us or make a great play and I'm Italian. Danny Ferry burning the Knicks bothered me more than any other NBA player. I hated that white unathletic punk draining 3s.

Like I used to say in College, if you're not racist in some way, you're brainwashed and not paying attention to society. I remember nobody could out debate me in that class. I basically told this gay cheerleader society had a right to hate him. He had no retort. He was just shocked

I really need to get a workout in. I've been here for an hour trying to talk about Darvish slider and it's turned completely off-topic.
I can't understand how you'd act like that clip was so obvious and then completely get a pitch wrong when I asked for examples. Show me a beautiful slider. I'll watch it when I get back

I actually need to add new songs to my MP3 player, so I just checked back. Apparently, the game is in rain delay.
Let me just say, with over 6 billion people in the world, there's plenty of room to want piece of sh*t people dead. We cry no tears over poor soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet, the piece of sh*t civilians here, and there are many, have lives that are valued in gold by the mainstream. I don't see why. Society could do with less condescending, elitist pieces of sh*t. If I had to go to take out a few of em, I would. I just wish more people felt the same. At least I'd make a positive impact on this country, albeit small. I guess I'm a vigilante at heart. And it's not necessarily criminals that need to go. It's the ones that go through society unchecked.
