Is the ballad of Mike and Chris finally nearing a finale?
When I first learned last month about the probable breakup of Mike Francesa and Chris Russo this summer, I was told it might take until Labor Day to sort itself out but more likely would be settled by Aug. 1.

So time is running out! But I've heard from three people this Tuesday that the end of the saga appears to be drawing close, and the basics have not changed lately. Chris is likely to land at Sirius for big dough, and Mike is likely to carry on without him, also for big dough.

It never bothered me when the athletes I interviewed made many times more money than me, but I admit it - it's sometimes a little strange and depressing writing about sports media figures who make many times more money than me.

Sigh.

I don't think he can either, but I think Mike will without Chris.

Agreed. Mike's shows when he's alone are much better than Chris' solo shows.

The arrogance and ignorance of both will propel each to successful individual careers. Francesca has a bit more arrogance, while Russo has a bit more ignorance. Pick whichever you feel like on a given day. I'll gladly support communism, using the fact those two clowns make millions of dollars as my only case for it. I feel I have a solid case.

I really don't understand it. You think you know what makes people listen or watch something, but they defy it. I'd think that people would watch/listen to a sports talk radio show because: (1) the hosts are really knowledgable, engaging, raise good points and add a unique perspective or (2) are charismatic, funny and entertaining (3) the host is an attractive female with a sexy voice and/or body. If Mike & Dog don't fall into any of those three categories, what's the draw?

I think Francesa has the better chance of surviving since he's a bigger name (he makes more, too), is more respected in the industry and has more sports knowledge. Russo is the type, I think, who needs to play the sidekick role. But I think they're intolerable together and equally useless solo. I wish them failure and disgrace.

They're on my list if I'm ever diagnosed terminally ill and have a few months to live. I ain't going down quietly.
