Igawa, Gardner and CokeCaine for Manny Ramirez (endless headaches but ohh can he hit!). At the end of the year, we decline the option and let him walk.

Ramirez plays left
Nady plays center
Abreu in right
Damon DH
Giambi at first
Muelky 4th outfielder.

Damon
Jeter
Canoo
Ramirez
Arod
Giambi
Nady
Abreu
Molina

A new murders row? Oh My.

Pass the rum...... :wtf:

Theo would bang Ben Affleck before he traded Manny to the Yankees. Actually come to think of it that probably happens anyway.

This reminds me of a question I had. When teams trade a player that they don't want going to a divisional rival or to their league, do they put a provision in the trade to make sure that player isn't allowed to be traded? I mean, think about the Brett Favre situation. What if the Vikings GM gets an AFC to trade for Favre, and then gives them a little bit more to get him? Or Cashman getting a team like the Reds to trade prospects for Manny, just to spin him to the Yankees for players they like better? It is possible. A deceptive three-way

I don't think they could make a provision like that. Once a guy is that team's property, it's their business what they do with him. The one penalty, probably, is that both teams (the first receiver and the second) would burn the bridge with the dealing team. I remember reading an interview with Cashman and he said that they pretty much operate on the honor system and the punishment for deception is being labeled a liar and black-marked by the league.

But I have to think that if you're bringing in a big enough star or if you're desperate enough, it might be worth it. The Vikings' lack of a #1 receiver and Blacky McCoon at QB is likely what'll hold them back. With Favre, I don't think they're a championship team, but I think they'd be one of the more dangerous teams in the NFC. They'd be unlikely to make any future deals with the Packers anyway. Maybe a team like that would take the gamble and say, "Thirty teams hate us, but f*ck 'em, we're 12-4."

Good post Strider, as usual. "Blackie McCoon" HAHA

Probably the black-listing is the main deterrent like you said. But it could be done. I'm just surprised it doesn't happen at all

Thanks.

I think it would have to be a big star for a team to go through with it, but big stars don't get traded too often. If the Cubs could swing something like that for Pujols, they'd do it.
