All our leagues get underway in a few short weeks! I'm a Weston-super-Mare (my home town) fan, though you'll never have heard of them. They're in a division that is 5.5 (I can't explain the point if you need me to) down from the premiership. I also support Everton. |

The only time I like that game is when the American girls can beat a "shocked and disbelieving" Brazil team. GO USA.......      |

The difference is that they're no affiliated to anyone. In the 1970s Wimbledon were at our level. In 1988 they had been in the top league for several years, and beat Liverpool in the final of the FA Cup. Basically, we don't have a closed shop. You play well, you move up a level, and you can become, I guess a major league club - not by appointment but by performance. The two or three worst big (major league) clubs are relegated to the level below. So there is NO motivation to finish last. etc etc etc I support a team that is a lot of leagues down, but we all know if they play well and win year in year out they can win the premiership (world series). That doesn't apply to AA and AAA teams. |

Or to put it another way, Leeds won the premiership in the 90s, they are now in the third tier of professional football. They have a lot of fans, and a lot of money, but they have to beat some crap sides (only 3 leagues higher than my lot) to go up a league. In fact, if my side went up, and Leeds finished in the bottom 4, they'd go down, and my side that attracts 400 fans would be one division away from these premiership winners who attract 30,000 fans. We reward performance, not mediocrity. |
