I wouldn't be against bringing back Miekiwitz

If we can get him for a low level prospect, I wouldn't mind having him back as a utility guy. First, he plays a bunch of positions in the infield and outfield and is especially adept at first. Secondly, he hits consistently about .275 with a little pop. And lastly he absolutely loves the Yankees and would do absolutely anything needed to help us win. (I bet he'd even catch in an emergency ;-) ). A real throw back. Just what this team needs more of.

* Plus if Giambi gets hurt, he'd be a very good fillin at first.

He's been pretty useless at the plate this year other than drawing a few walks here and there. Defensive specialists that only play 1B aren't really worth it.

For the record I like his attitude and ethic too.

He played outfield tonight and can play the corners in the infield (he's listed as a third baseman). Plus he's hitting about .270 I thought. Granted he's no allstar but would give it everything he's got. I mean what do you expect from a utility guy anyway? Can play a bunch of positions and good defense, plus fundamentally sound. I'd say that describes him to a tee. :peace:

(on edit, this year he's played RF, 3rd Base and 1st Base)

Average batting average, very good on base %, terrible slugg %. He's good enough defensively to back up Giambi and Abreu, but not A-Rod. I don't think he'd be an overall upgrade over Betemit personally unless he goes on a big tear to end the season like last year.
