People are starting to see the real Jeter. Every few weeks more and more negative articles are written about him. |

They're starting to see he's having his first bad season in his 13th full season and that part of it may be as a result of getting drilled in the hand? |

For all the ridicule Boston got for giving Drew big bucks, Abreu at 16 mil the past two years has been pretty damn bad. For how mediocre Drew was his rookie year, Abreu wasn't much better(Drew actually had a better OBP) and his defense is absolutely putrid. He's so lazy too. He jogs at CATCHABLE balls. Jogging shouldn't be defended anyways, but this guy jogs at balls that can be caught. Is it some press rule that you can't call out hispanic players for loafing around? Billy Martin would have his hands around this guy's neck, and rightfully so. As far as Jeter is concerned, I'm honestly willingly to believe he's injured. He's been unreliable and less clutch a lot more than he ever has. He also gets thrown out at 1st on balls he used to beat out and his range is even less than usual(Is it even possible?). There's gotta be something there. He can't be washed up at 33/34. |

Agreed. Cano for all his struggles has still been one of the better defensive 2Bmen in the AL. |

f*ck that! You want to justify that he is only NOW at the end of June getting his BA over the .240 mark! WTF are you smoking! He has been a PIECE OF DOGSHIT at the plate for most of the season..HE'S A WHORE! Don't attempt to justify his pitiful hitting with his fielding! Its about time he started to hit...LONG overdue. |

:please: I'm looking over the longer term. Every player slumps from time to time. Can0's done well in the past and I view this as an aberration that will be corrected by season end where I see him at about .275+ And his fielding has been superb; gold glove caliber in my book. :peace: |

No, come on YB! You judge a player by two terrible months, not by his entire body of work! Use some common sense. Oh wait, you are. I actually think he may end up hitting well over .275, but it would obviously take a very strong second half. Overlooking how his prolonged slump at the plate has not affected his fielding at all is just another example of Bleed's lack of ability to assess a player without being an overreacting fool. Trade him for Griffey! Back on topic, I think Jeter is finally healthy, and may go on a nice run himself.
That about sums it up. |

Gimme a break! Cano shouldn't be called out because he's a good fielder? You can't be serious! |

Nice reading comprehension skills you've developed there. Did you attack your teacher if he or she gave you a bad grade? The strong fielding shows Cano has not "whored it up," or in big people words, "mailed in his performance." He has sucked at the plate this year. Deal with it. It's called a slump. You wanted him dealt last year for over the hill players, and how did his season end up? Use some rational thought when posting. |

You have an irrational hatred for the guy. I've been as pissed as anybody at how he's hit most of the year- though he does seem to be slowly coming out of it- but like Homie and YB pointed out, he plays great D. He hasn't whored it up in the field at all this year. |

True enough....I do have a dislike for him....but if you read the posts up top, I clearly base my comments on his hitting. He is a good fielder, probably one of the best fielding 2nd basemen in baseball , but something about him just bothers me. He has tremendous talent, but I don't think he really has respect for that talent! How else do you explain the paltry batting avg. Some say it was a slump, I choose to think it has more to do with lack of concentration and effort. |

Yeah, I'm sure he's cool with his paltry batting average this season after establishing himself as a great hitter his first few seasons. He could go down as a great on the Yankees, but he's fine with being well below average because he's whoring it up after signing his first long-term deal. Of course that's ignoring that the two highest paid seasons on the deal are option years and that he will still be young enough to cash in on a much bigger deal if he continues to improve. It can't just be a prolonged slump and he can't be putting in any effort. |

Listen, you don't have to agree! But I have a hard time thinking that Mickey or Joe D would be smiling on the bench with their .200 avgs. |

He probably would have drank himself to a stupor.....but hung over and all....he'd be working his ass off in that batting cage, and you wouldn't see a smile on his face till he was getting consistent solid hits again........BANK on that! |

Do you just speed read or something? It's not about smiling, its about smiling all the time while you can't hit worth a sh*t for half a season! Some people take the game seriously, what's wrong with that, McReynolds was a solid ballplayer. |

Bleed, I can explain Canoo's slump very easily. He's a better second half player, we all know this. He'll do much better after the All-Star break and finish the year at .270-.275 and will be a big contributer down the stretch. |

A lot of our guys just don't seem to care. But it's not exclusive to our team. A lot of these latino players have this cultural attitude where they are just thrilled to be in the bigs making more money than they know what to do with. Go from playing with rubber bands rolled up into a ball, milk carton gloves, and sticks for bats to playing in front of 50,000 people. And it's not just the latinos, American ballplayers don't have the passion anymore. World Series appearances used to double players salaries. Now, you got bonus babies out the ass, rich kids playing ball. You'll probably never the passion out of today and future players. It sucks for the fans. I used to be able to watch the Yankees get blown out. Now, I'm so disgusted with the players laughing and smiling as they fail miserably. |
