This is stupid. Hustling is one thing, sprinting and diving all over the place up by 7 runs is stupid. Everything has to be taken in context. A-Rod hustles every single play when he needs to, when he's up by 7 runs why would he risk hurting himself in anyway or even draining his legs when he has a game the next day. There is admirable behavior and then there is just plain not playing smart. The way Pettitte was going A-Rod didn't even have to be in that game anymore.
All I want is for him to Hustle every play (he usually does). That's two "Home Runs" where he cost himself a base by jogging out of the box. Some day it's gonna cost us. Ask Todd Zeile.

Up 7 runs against the Padres in June isn't a close game in the world series. I want him to do what he has to do to be at his best over 162 games, which includes not risking injury or overtaxing the central nervous system in games when the run isn't important.
What other homerun are you talking about?

Same thing happened the other day.
Anyway, I understand what you're saying but running out every ball with an honest effort is what I expect of every player. I suppose we just have differing opinions. :peace:

Oh wait, I think I know the play you are talking about. He hit a screamer off the wall and there was a mistake on the throw or something right? That wasn't a hustle play. It was an easy double and an unforeseen mistake by the other team that additional hustle wouldn't have effected. That would be like getting on a player for ever getting a standup double because they slow down into second instead of sprinting full speed and diving for no reason.
Anyway we agree on what really matters, that in a tight game they better bust their ass on every play! :peace:

Meaning Jose? I'd still probably trade Aceves for him. :smirk:
