By the way, I just caught Cashman on Mike and the Dog on the replay on YES. He confirmed that the other possible deal for Santana other than the one headlined by Hughes was Wang, Kennedy, Melky, and another prospect. That was still a lot to give up.

You'd go with Tim Leary over Richard Dotson?

Good post, Fat Blog.

Depending on who the other prospect was thats somewhat interesting, a lot like you said though. I feel better about signing Sabathia and keeping all those other pieces for other stuff, if that is indeed the plan.

A rotation of Sabathia, Joba, Wang, Hughes, and Rasner or whoever with Kennedy, Melky and that other prospect on the team or as trade bait is better than a rotation of Sabathia, Joba, Hughes, Rasner, and whoever with all of those other players gone.

Mike and Chris were saying how the Yankees are revising history and making the offers seem more expensive as time went on.

If he's cheap, why not trade for Livan Hernandez? The guy eats innings like Rob eats cheese doodles and he could be the bridge in the rotation until Hughes returns?

If they're going for someone very average, he'd really be the perfect completely mediocre guy to get because he never misses a start and pitches deep into games. Like you said, though, it would have to be cheap, very cheap, as in a lower level minor leaguer or two. The Twins would probably ask for more.
