I understand.

I didn't have high expectations for Hawkins at all - and it's not a shock that he's been terrible - so I'm not trying to defend him by any means.  If he could have replicated what he did for Colorado last year, it would have been great, but he simply just hasn't worked out.  I feel that they needed a veteran presence in the bullpen, so for one year and $3.75 million, it was worth the gamble.

I would like to agree with that statement, Giambi_MVP_25. He as been a disappointment has a member of this bullpen.

How are we doing has of 66 games?

We could really equate him to Morgan Ensberg too. It was worth a shot, it didn't work out, and he's gone. Looking past his big year a few seasons ago, he has sucked of late. It was a low risk signing.

Except Hawkins was to play a more important role.

Wait a minute MM. If you do a realistic NL to AL conversion then Hawkins has been better than Scott Proctor this year. Doesn't this conflict with your theory that Scott Proctor had such great trade value last year. Proctor isn't a strikeout pitcher either.

No one was talking about your boy slobameat.

Important, as in the 6th inning? He was never going to the main "bridge" to Mo, as Kay likes to say.

He could have when A-Rod was down and Giambi was sucking.

Neither was I, I was talking about Proctor, who aparently is extreemly similar to proctor, who apparently had value despite Hawkins not having any.

Is it a race thing MM?

exactly, he got some big innings early on because of his good spring, but with the talent they had coming in he was never looked at as more than an extra bullpen arm.

I meant he was going to be used a lot more often than Ensberg.

Hawkins and Shelley Duncan for Vizciano. Get it done!

Hawkins pitched great in Colorado and Duncan would mash balls there.

Viciano has been a physical wreck and when he has played, he's absolutely sucked in Colorado.
