Link This is a BIG fit. The Yankees have 3 veteran OFers and a Veteran 1Bman that are playing VERY well right now. Kemp, Loney, and Either could all be good fits for the Yankees. Kemp and Loney would be GREAT fits. |

For the record Giambi: .955 OPS (13th in MLB) Damon: .896 OPS (28th in MLB) Matsui: .863 OPS (38th in MLB) Abreu: .831 OPS (59th in MLB) Ethier: .802 OPS (72nd in MLB) Kemp: .792 OPS (85th in MLB) Loney: .768 OPS (99th in MLB) The reason I only mentioned OPS is because LA wants an offensive upgrade. I think we all know the benefits that picking up one of these players would have, even at the cost of offensively superior (right now) players. This is really a fit for both teams and since 1) Its LA, 2)Torre is the manager, and 3)The two teams have close records, I don't see the no trade clauses being too big of an issue. |

The Dodgers young outfielders do nothing for me. Loney or one of their young pitchers for Matsui I'd do. If not them, and Joe Torre's big disgusting nose, can go f*ck themselves. |

From what? Jerseys and Televised games that are on at 5am anyway? The Yankees will get over it. You seriously don't like Matt Kemp? |

I'd do Matsui for a young outfielder and a young pitcher from LA, but it's more a long-term move than for this year. It would open up DH next year for Posada or even Giambi, if they decided to bring him back one more season at a reasonable rate. |

I have trouble letting go, and I like Matsui. I would take Kemp for Matsui, but I'd bitch about it if it didn't work out and pretend I was against the trade from the get-go. |

You don't think Matsui for Kemp straight up is a fair trade? Age and wisdom for youth and possibilities. |

Kemp and some kind of pitcher is what I'd want. It doesn't have to be a top flight pitcher. Kemp would be the headliner. |

My original post was a typo. It should have said young outfielder and young pitcher, not young outfielder and young bat. |

Agree with that position....but it would probably come down to a straight up one for one. Kemp looks like he is going to be the real deal, and a possible All Star type outfielder. |

Between the difference in age and salary, and the fact that Kemp plays CF and is fast while Matsui is a slow DH, I think the Dodgers would have the leverage. You could make the case that Matsui for Kemp straight up was fair, but if any team is getting better value its the Yankees. Getting more than Kemp for Matsui would make Cashman the executive of the year. Even 1 for 1 would shock me. |

MM, Homie and Matty you're crazy if you think Coletti runs that team. He's not being paid 15 million to just "manage." Schmucks. |

So you think Joe Torre is suddenly running the entire LA organization? He just pushed people like Colletti and Lasorda out the door of the front office, and took it all over? Torre is making $13 million over THREE years, so he's making $4.33 million per season. |
