Ron Davis' son Ike is an OF 1Bman that some people think the yankees will draft. He's more of a polished safe pick though. Some "experts" completely ignore what Cash has been doing. |

Cole is a projectable high school right-hander who compares a bit to Kyle Farnsworth. :-| |

Tampering! YF03 may as well pick a silly and/or girly name for Tanner Scheppers now. Tammy Schleppers?
We're getting to the point where the trendy name generation are being old enough to be drafted. Gerrit Cole? Actually that's just weird, not sure it's trendy. Rob, start your skepticm of his velocity now:

It says that under "Physical Description." So he's big and tall. |

He throws hard and straight. Sounds a lot like Farnsworth to me. Even any mention of the big F (in any context), makes me cringe... :MrSerious: |

It said he usually has movement, but was somewhat straight that day. Anyway I'll take a high schooler that already has Kyle Farnsworth's stuff. |

Agreed. Keep stockpiling these talented arms with upside. You'll hit with some, miss with others, and the odds are some will be long-term keepers. Are there any college catchers who are only a couple of years away worth taking after the first few rounds are over? I don't want to use the first few picks on one, but wouldn't mind one later on. |

I read about that guy. I'm thinking the second tier of catchers, but a guy with a high probability to make it to the bigs. I want arms early on. |

Catching is weird for the Yankees because Austin Romine and Jesus Montero are both in A ball and Frank Cervelli once he comes back is in AA. Its unlikely to find a catcher with Montero or Romine's upside or Cervelli's polish, so my guess is they'll stay away until the later rounds. MM, Ross is a boring pick to me, but I thought that about Kennedy too so we'll see. Meyer I like, but he's really risky. |

I hope those catching prospects are all legit. If one or two of them could contribute in the next few years, that'd be cool. They could be products of the Homie Hype Machine though. |

Haha. Cervelli is so good defensively most think he could catch in the bigs now. Many were saying that during spring training. The only question with him is will he be a Jose Molina type or Jason Kendal with less speed type. Montero will probably have to switch positions at some point, but isn't much bigger than Joe Mauer so who knows. Romine probably has the greatest chance of being a bust, but has the most upside as a catcher. He's got an 80 arm on the 20-80 scale and can actually hit. The Yankees like him so much they sent him to single A out of high school instead of starting him in short season ball, so far he's holding his own. Kyle Anson, a converted third baseman, supposedly has the best pop times out of all of them, and can hit. He's a bit old for Tampa so if any of the 4 were going to be replaced by a draftee I guess it would be him. Or maybe they are all the Matt Smiths of catchers ;) |

MM, it seems Meyer could end up being this years Austin Jackson or Dellin Betances. He's represented by Boras and is committed to some big school that I can't remember. |

Complete first and second rounds, including compensatory picks: The Mets must be laughing that they got the #18 pick for losing an over-the-hill pitcher, who blew the last game of the year as badly as one can blow a game and only wanted to come back with the team he joined. The Yankees got the #44 pick for losing Jose Vizcaino, who has pitched in two games this year. Remember where they got Joba last season. FIRST ROUND 1. Rays 2. Pirates 3. Royals 4. Orioles 5. Giants 6. Marlins 7. Reds 8. White Sox 9. Nationals 10. Astros 11. Rangers 12. Athletics 13. Cardinals 14. Twins 15. Dodgers 16. Brewers 17. Blue Jays 18. Mets (For loss of Type A Glavine to Braves) 19. Cubs 20. Mariners 21. Tigers 22. Mets 23. Padres 24. Phillies 25. Rockies 26. Diamondbacks 27. Twins (For loss of Type A Torii Hunter to Angels) 28. Yankees 29. Indians 30. Red Sox COMPENSATION ROUND 31. Twins (for loss of Type A Torii Hunter to the Angels) 32. Brewers (for loss of Type A Francisco Cordero to the Reds) 33. Mets (for loss of Type A Tom Glavine to Braves) 34. Phillies (for loss of Type A Aaron Rowand to Giants) 35. Brewers (for loss of Type A Scott Linebrink to White Sox) 36. Royals (for loss of Type B David Riske to the Brewers) 37. Giants (for loss of Type B Pedro Feliz to Phillies) 38. Astros (for loss of Type B Trever Miller to Rays) 39. Cardinals (for loss of Type B Troy Percival to Rays) 40. Braves (for loss of Type B Ron Mahay to Royals) 41. Cubs (for loss of Type B Jason Kendall to Brewers) 42. Padres (for loss of Type B Doug Brocail to Astros) 43. Diamondbacks (for loss of Type B Livan Hernandez to Twins) 44. Yankees (for loss of Type B Luis Vizcaino to Rockies) 45. Red Sox (for loss Type B Eric Gagne to Brewers) 46. Padres (for loss of Type B Mike Cameron to Brewers) SECOND ROUND 47. Rays 48. Pirates 49. Royals 50. Orioles 51. Phillies (from Giants for loss of Type A Aaron Rowand) 52. Marlins 53. Brewers (for loss of Type A Francisco Cordero to the Reds) 54. Brewers (for loss of Type A Scott Linebrink to the White Sox) 55. Nationals 56. Astros 57. Rangers 58. Athletics 59. Cardinals 60. Twins 61. Dodgers 62. Brewers 63. Blue Jays 65. Braves 65. Cubs 66. Mariners 67. Tigers 68. Mets 69. Padres 70. This is another reason the Yankees signed Latroy Hawkins. You can get high draft picks for bad relievers. |
