This just from Gammons:
The Twins and Red Sox are supposed to meet this afternoon to continue discussions on the Johan Santana deal. Sources indicate the Twins are still trying to decide between a 3-for-1 trade for center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, infielder Jed Lowrie and pitching prospect Justin Masterson and a 4-for-1 swap that substitutes lefty starter Jon Lester and center fielder Coco Crisp for Ellsbury.
What a bunch of assholes! I hope it all blows up in their faces. Ellsbury is way overrated and Lester is NOTHING special. Coco crisp is a really bad cereal and an even worse trade for Santana
Elsbury is not overrated...he's the real deal Lester, however, is overrated.
We'll see! You wanna tell me a guy who has 33 games MLB experience isn't overrated...who are you Houdini?
He performed very well in the WS too..
Joba pitched in 19 games, is he overrated?
Hughes pitched 13 games, is he overrated?
Ellsbury is a prospect with limited experience, but the tier of prospects he is in, which is very high, is deserved based on his talent and his succession thus far in the majors...and he's shown he can perform under pressure.

In the minors Ellsbury was a .300 hitter with a decent .380 OBP and no power. Thats probably what he'll be in the majors, you don't develop power in your mid-late 20s. He's a very good CFer and can steal 30-40 bases. He's a very good player, but nothing special. Juan Pierre with a glove and arm. Hughes and Joba dominated the minors and have great stuff. There is really no compairison.
Now that Cabrera is gone I can see the Angels getting in on this big time. Willits is similar to Ellsbury(a poor man's ellsbury you might say), and he'd basically be a throw in.

Are you feckin kidding me....you want to compare a CF who plays every day to Hughes and Joba who are pitchers in terms of games played! You do realize a pitcher only pitches in 35 games or so a season right. I think Joba and Hughes samples are much more telling of their abilities than Ellsbury's...

The Twins and Angels continue to talk about a Johan Santana trade. Many of the same players mentioned in the Miguel Cabrera sweepstakes -- Howie Kendrick, Brandan Wood, Nick Adenhart, and possibly Jeff Mathis or Reggie Willits -- would be included in a package for Santana.
It is believed that the Angels haven't talked with the Marlins since last night, and Miguel Cabrera is off their radar screen -- at least for now.
:please: Angels GM Tony Reagins just told reporters that there was no truth to Angels being involved in Johan Santana negotiations. Reagins said he never talked to Twins. Were'd ya get this batch of bogus info MM? No dought you heard it down at the Shady Pines Rest Home... :smirk:
I just told ya it was Jayson Stark and I didn't believe ya..ya old coot.
 Simma. I was just kidding ole chum.

Chill...out...
Hughes and Joba have just as little experience as Ellsbury...and you could even say Joba has no experience (as a starter) in the majors..
Ellsbury played in 33 games...it's not like he subbed into 10 of those games...he started maybe about 30 of them...

He is what he is. A good hitter for average with a pretty good eye and is very fast and a good-great fielder. He has no power and is unlikely to ever have any. He is Chone Figgins with a better glove.

Let the Twins trade for Lester. It'll be fun laughing at them while Lester barely wins 10 games for them and Hughes ends up being a perrenial Cy Young contender. Yikes.

Phyllis is the last straw for me as far as our prospects. I'm never again buying into the hype of the Yankee front office when it comes to these kids anymore. From now, come up to the bigs and do something if you want to believe. Joba wasn't even really talked about from what I remember until right before he came up. All the talk was Phyllis Hughes this, Ian Cuntedy that and those two whoring scumbags suck.
