Things I want to see next season

1)Straight Wilson Betemit, Shelly Duncan platoon:

Duncan Vs Lefties:.303 .378 .606 majors
Betemit Vs Righties: .277, .355, .486 three year splits
If need be they can keep a phillips on the roster because Betemit can play all over the IF and Shelly can play corner OF

2)Cano hitting infront of A-Rod(if A-Rod comes back)

Don't remember where I read or saw this stat, but Cano has a higher BA when he gets a fastball than most big league hitters. Something in the extreemly high .300s.

3)Molina catching more often regardless of Posada being back:
Especially for the young guys.

4)Horne in the pen:
If he isn't traded, and if he doesn't have to start(injury/innefectiveness/Pettitte leaving), then I want to see what Horne has in the pen. I wouldn't mind seeing Marquez and White seeing time in the pen too.

5)Eiland or Mazzone as pitching coach:
Mattingly and Downs are very mechanics aware coaches. Guidry seems to lack that based on his interview comments. Eiland's track record with our young pitchers(which he demonstrated helping Hughes when he came up with Kennedy) and Mazzone's track record speak for themselves

6)Jeter leading off if neccesary:
I'm tired of Torre and Fans being scared of moving Jeter out of the two hole. If Damon or Melky aren't getting on base and Jeter has a .390-.400 OBP, but is only hitting singles and drawing walks...then you lead Jeter off. It isn't that complicated. Jeter, Cano, A-Rod or Jeter, Abreu A-Rod is 100% better than having a struggling Damon/Melky getting the most ABs on your team.

Homie, does Hungry Hungry Humberto have any shot to be back in 2008 or is he strictly 2009?

He'll be ready for spring training, but usually with Tommy John the velocity and especially control (which wasn't his strongest quality to begin with) doesn't come all the way back until the second season. I think we'll see him next season, and he may even have some value in the pen, but I doubt any of us are on the bandwagon until 09, especially as a starter.

Good sh*t, homeboy. I agree with most of it, but I wouldn't be gung-ho about Betemit/Duncan getting 600 at-bats. Kinda out there, but I'd give thought to signing Mike Lowell to play 1B (even though they might dick-ride and give him a Gold Glove). He's not hitting .320+ with 120+ RBI here, but unlike those two, he makes contact and can hit the ball the other way. Hit .336 the last 3 years in Yankees Stadium; .347 against the Rays; .353 against Toronto.

Interesting, I think Lerch and Sisco can combine for .260, 28, 90. Lowell would probably be good for .290, 20, 100. And you know what they say...Four testicles are better than one. Don't get me wrong I think Lowell would out play them, but with the way Cash/Oppenheimer(if he doesn't get the St. Louis job) have been drafting, I don't want to give Boston any picks. Also you know Lowell is going to demand an assload of money. Over the years he's less "cuddly canceer survivor" and more "cheap shot Mientkiewicz, lick his own nut".

I agree with everything you said, I'd rather Eiland over Leo myself.

I actually do too. Bottom line he knows these kids, especially Hughes, and whatever Nardi has been doing, Eiland knows the system.

Yeah, that's the key; and I don't think it's a coincidence that Hughes started pitching better in September when Eiland came up with the younger call-ups.

There is no way that was a coincidence. Its pretty simple to me. Guidry=Boss, Eiland=Cashman. We'll see what happens. In a way it may be kinda telling of the Cleveland Series' effect on Cashman's status.

1. Abreu RF
2. Jeter SS
3. Cano 2B
4. A-Rod 3B
5. Matsui/Giambi DH (one traded maybe?)
6. Posada C (if back)
7. Betemit/Duncan 1B
8. Melky CF
9. Damon LF

I really like the way that lineup turns over. Abreu gets on base at a superior rate to Damon, hits WAY more doubles (scoring position), and usually steals as many bases. I believe Cano would warrant hitting 3rd based on what he does with the fastballs that A-Rod provides. Matsui has a no trade clause and Giambi's salary IS a no trade clause, so we'll see what happens with that. If Posada is gone you want another bat be it Lowell for first base or whoever.
