Feck that clown, Oppenheimer found our young pitchers anyway. Stop giving Cash blow jobs for Joba, Hughes and Kennedy. If you fire Torre Fire Cash as well!

It's not going to happen this year, but it definitely could if they don't get it done next year.

Cash is the reason Oppenheimer was even a factor. Cash put the emphasis on the draft. Cash gave Oppenheimer the resources to do what he did. Cash MADE oppenheimer the man. Cash built this farm system and brought it from the bottom to the top without rebuilding. Anybody excited about the youth movement should be a big fan of Cash.

Molina and Villone for relievers unlikely to ever pitch in the bigs.

Ohlendorf and Vizcaino plus two very interesting wild card prospects for a broken old mand comming off surgery and a 5+ era.

Pitching prospect with Ace or closer potential + Detroits self proclaimed future closer + decent relief prospect for an injured malcontent pushing 40.

Veres, Bruney, Ramirez, Rasner...for NOTHING

Willingness to let veterans sign elsewhere and take draft picks which lead to Hughes, Joba, Kennedy, Marquez, Henry

CJ Henry(more of a B-Ball prospect than baseball prospect at this point), Matt Smith and two spanish guys nobody will ever know about for Bobby Abreu.

Agressiveness with prospects like Hughes, Kennedy, Melky and especially Joba. They wouldn't be up otherwise.

Pouring money into the draft. Resulting in first round talents like Betances, Melencoln, and Austin Jackson being 7th and 8th round picks.

The list goes on. All this while lowering payroll, getting rid of some(not all) of the dead wood, restocking the farm, and still making the playoffs every year.

I'll admit I'm on the tip if you admit he's done some very very good things.

Yeah, the Tampa brass has done a hell of a job.

Forgot to mention international signings like Tabata, Frak Cervelli, Corona, Carlos Urena, Abraham and Zoolio Almonte....

Hey. If you want Oppenheimer to replace him I'm not sure I can argue, but then you probably lose some of his talent evaluating magic since he'll be doing everything else too.

Interestingly enough this is from a recent espn chat with Jim Callis...

Quote:

Sully (NYC): Why doesn't Damon Oppenheimer get more pub as a potential GM? His drafts and international work are as big a reason as any for the Yankee farm turning around.

Jim: (3:02 PM ET ) I think he does, doesn't he? The last time we did a top GM prospects list, he was on there? People in the game are well aware of what Oppenheimer has been doing.

also in that chat......
Quote:

Mike (NYC): Horne or Pelfrey?

Jim: (3:05 PM ET ) Horne.

Probably, but none of it happens without cash at the helm.

I get on his case, but I think anybody else could be a total disaster.

The guy has completely revamped the farm system turning into a top 10 in baseball while keeping the big league club a perennial contender. You can't ask for anything more out of management.
