Couldn't even post here last night because I'd make kocur and BC look like Michael Kay. But now that I've had some time to cool down, take my sh*t from my red sox fan roommates, here's what I think:

1) Torre. Starting at the top. I'm going to miss him. With the exception of mm and YB, the late '90's team was the best any of us have ever seen. What made them so likeable was the class they exuded while playing and Torre was one of the main reasons for that. I've disagreed completely with the way he has handled things such as the bullpen and the over loyalty to veterans but if nothing else him leaving is just another icon of that dynasty gone.

With that said I think it's his time. The team is getting younger and you could see this series the focus of the team shifting towards the younger guys like Cano, Melkey, Hughes, Joba etc. Mattingly is my favorite player of all time and I'd love to see him manager, but I think Giradi is the right choice. What he accomplished in Florida with all those rookies was impressive and I think he could do some good with the ton of young guys we got coming up.

2) Last night I wanted everyone gone I mean everyone. Realistically it's not going to happen. I think you have to bring A-Rod back. You can't replace that bat in the lineup and when your main problem in the playoffs is hitting you don't get rid of the MVP. Abreu was phenomenal the end of the year and if he wants a reasonable, shorter term contract you do it. Same with Rivera, he wasn't the same and I almost would rather see Joba take over as closer but the guy can still get it done. Give him a 2 year deal, let him pitch in the new Stadium for a year.

I don't think Posada should be back. He's not going to come anywhere close to the numbers he put up this year again. He's really taken a step back defensively. A long term solution is needed and should be looked at in the trade market. Giambi has to go, as does Mussina who had a gritty performance last night but is not someone I trust over a full season. I love Damon's guts and postseason savy but whether he should come back depends on A-Rod. If he goes you cant have your outfield combinding for 40 homers. I don't think Matsui would leave NY for anywhere other than Japan so you have to clear the DH spot for him.

3) There's alot to look foward to with this team. Alot of youth coming up, couple hard throwing guys like Veras and Ohlendorf could make signifcant contributions out of the bullpen and if you count Pettite you're looking at a completely homegrown rotation.

As the Yankees you can't play the "we were lucky to even be in the playoffs" card. More is expected. But the team gave me alot more excitement the last couple months then I think anyone anticipated in June. It's been a helluva ride and I'm in football mode now but another couple weeks we could have an exciting hot stove season as well.

Good post Moo, I also love Mattingly but Girardi is the guy. Did I hear a rumour about LaRussa?!? No No NO, I hope not. We need a YOUNG manager for this team, and Girardi is the perfect fit!!! Let Donnie stay on as his bench coach, I'm sure Girardi would be fine with him in that spot!

Veras, Big Oh, Rivera, Hungry Hungry Hippo? get me a couple of other young solid relievers.

Staff you are on point. Joba, Hughes, Pettitte, Kennedy and Wang.

Wang as 5th starter, I hate him!!!

Gotta keep A Rod, can't lose that bat. I would dump Jeter if I could, I f*cking mean that. He stays. Canoo at SS I wouldn't mind a Shelly Duncan/Doug M first base platoon. Matsui at DH. Keep Betemit can play anywhere in the infield. I'm still for brining in Hunter, outside of bullpen help and re-signing some of our own this is the only free agent move we need to make.
