The Twins may have been impressed enough where it will take Hughes and maybe Tabata rather than Hughes and Kennedy or Hughes, Melky, Sanchez.

I want Santana badly, but not at the cost of Hughes. I hope the Twins just end up not being able to deal him and then we can just sign him. They will get what they want somewhere though, or just settle for some bullshit package from the Sox.

I don't feel like losing Hughes for the guy either. Santana is awesome, no doubt, but sometimes these moves don't always work out as well as you'd hope and I'd hate to lose Hughes see him be great and watch Santana possibly fall apart for us. Like Vin, I'd rather just wait and see if the guy becomes an FA.

And let's be real, Johan did take a step back this year. I'm not saying he's going to keep taking a step back, but as YF said; sometimes those big names who come here don't always end up being what we thought they would be. I'd rather stick with the homegrown my man.

You don't trade a prospect of Hughes caliber for someone who's going to be a free agent after the season.

In recent baseball history, no pitching prospect of Hughes caliber has been traded for an ace pitcher. Pavano/Armas for Pedro....Wells for Clemens....Garcia/Halama for RJ....It just doesn't happen. The fish got Ramirez and Sanchez for Beckett, so Tabata(similar prospect to Ramirez) is possible, but unless Boston is willing to give Buccholz AND Pedroia(they won't), the Yankees shouldn't have to part with Hughes and Tabata.
