The trade deadline is 2 weeks away. Where the hell are all the hot juicy rumours? Where are all the pre-deadline trade talks? Where is Peter Gammons? What the hell is going on?

This used to be the most exciting time of the year (besides the playoffs). Now it's just dead silence! Jason Kendall?! Who gives a shet!

There pretty much isn't anything out there news worthy. So many teams in contension and no coveted names to be traded. Personally, I think they should at least be thorough and explaining potential scenarios that would be beneficial to teams, rather than basically doing no trade coverage. I mean, there are SOME players potentially for trade. There's gotta be, but they aren't mentioning even possibilities.

The only names I am hearing are the White Sox pitchers. Jose Contreras, John Garland, and Javier Vazquez. :puke:

I read a rumor that the Yankees and A's were talking Proctor-Dan Johnson. I'm convinced Johnson's any better than Phillips (though - this is for you PB - he may have more upside).

I would not mind Dan Johnson at all. If this team is pushing for a run this season though, it's counterproductive to be trading Proctor.

Personally, if Garland were for trade, but I haven't heard his name mentioned with Vazquez and Contreras, he should get more attention than Mark Buerhle did and would put some teams over the top, especially in the NL. The Brewers or Cubs got Garland, that swings the division. The Lucks could use a pitcher tpp/

Terrible move. Who's gonna replace those 90 innings out of the pen?

Agreed, Dan Johnson will not make a difference on this team.

Dan Johnson's a good player. Not a great player, but certainly an upgrade over the crap that is Andy Phillips and Miguel Cairo. Would I trade Proctor for him? No. But I would try and work something out for a low price. He hasn't raised his game in Oakland like was expected of him, but he'd be better than what we have and he has "upside." ;)

I wouldn't mind Betemit. He's playing better than his numbers suggest and he has to be cheaper than last season when the Braves wanted Proctor.

MLB sources told the Tribune's Phil Rogers that the Diamondbacks played Conor Jackson in left field Monday in order to showcase him for a potential trade to the White Sox.

Dye wants to move, Contending Cali teams and Mets are looking at him.

Yanks looking at Grienke as replacement if they trade Proctor or Farnsworthless.

Mets want an Oswalt or Willis still.

M's were hoping Yankees would move Pettitte.

Scouts Flock Into Stadium

Quote:

July 20, 2007 -- The Yankees continue to talk to the Dodgers about utilityman Wilson Betemit, but the Dodgers are also chatting with the Royals about reliever Octavio Dotel, whom they like a little bit better than Scott Proctor.

The Dodgers had scout Mark Weidemaier at Yankee Stadium yesterday. The Twins, Tigers and Marlins were also represented.

According to an NL talent evaluator, the Yankees' top priority before the Aug. 1 trading deadline is to acquire a reliever. However, that's high on a lot of teams' list. The Tigers are talking to the Rangers about Eric Gagne and have an interest in Dotel.

The pitching-poor Devil Rays have told clubs they will "listen to anything about anybody" on their roster. The Yankees like utility infielder Ty Wigginton, but the Devil Rays are against making trades within the AL East. The Devil Rays could use Proctor, but indications they are looking for more than that for Wigginton, who can play first, second and third.

"The Yankees don't want to give up the kids, and if they don't do that, they aren't going to get anything," an NL scout said.

The Yankees' need for bullpen help is directly related to Kyle Farnsworth's fall from grace and out of the eighth-inning setup role, and to Proctor's and Brian Bruney's inability to throw enough strikes.

Farnsworth, who deservedly gets booed the second he surfaces from the bullpen, worked with pitching coach Ron Guidry Wednesday.

"He needs to be more consistent with his fastball to make his slider better," Joe Torre said of Farnsworth, who has given up 17 hits and five walks in his last 14 games (13 innings).

Even though Farnsworth didn't pitch Tuesday, Torre was leery of using him in the eighth inning Wednesday night when Bruney and Ron Villone issued walks. That forced Torre to use Mariano Rivera for a five-out save.

WTF?

Wanna make the playoffs? Give em a PACKAGE deal, Moose AND Igawaa, then plug in Hughes and Chamberlain, with the Yankee Clip, Horne, DeSalvo etc as long men/caddies. :smirk:

(Laugh all you want, but with available pitching as thin as it is, I'm sure some team will take the gamble. Just a question of how much $$$ we have to pony up.) Same goes for Damon and Abreu. ;)

Silliness. We need to trade some of the second tier guys like Olendoof, Beam, etc to make room at AA and AAA for our upcoming studs like Whelan and Betances. Trade em now before they lose all value. :peace: :toot:
