And I really don't like this guy despite his success. Like Ervin Santana, I just don't like their stuff as much as the credit they get. I must be wrong on Verlander, since he's been terrific.

Can't be that high. It's straight though. That's what I've noticed about his heat. I guess it don't matter as much when you got offspeed and can locate.

Agree 100% on Santana. Dissagree 90% on Verlander.

What league did he think Santana pitched in? Why are those two allowed to talk baseball?

I think this kid Verlander is a decent pitcher and is better than most of their starters. I mean it amazes me that he still threw 102 mph in the 9th inning. I think I like to see where he is 3 to 5 years from now if he can still pitch effectively.

I'm sorry, but Verlander is more hittable than the radar gun indicates(I know it's armchair QBing, because obviously pitching is hard to hit at that speed) The guy's fastball is just not overpowering. I saw him face us last year for the first time, expecting to be amazed. I wasn't. He's a very good pitcher still, yeah, but I can't stand overrating. He's not overpowering. He does have a terrific curve to throw off hitters timing, and although his fastball isn't dominating, it gets up on the hitter quick and he gets a lot of weak hit balls off it. I would consider him a number 2 guy for sure. But best in the league, not so much. Then again, he may develop past this into a dominating ace. His success already cannot be argued

A number two guy on the Twins, Padres, BlueJays(when he's healthy), Astros and A's(when Harden is healthy)...yes. On the Mariners, Phillies, and Yankees in a year or two...maybe. On any other team in baseball I have to dissagree. Over hyped maybe. Number two starter? I don't see it.
