I've seen enough of Abreu's defense and it is average and when going back for a play is below average. |

Join the Hate Wagon, man. I said it, and wasn't around pre-season to say it, Yankee fans, at least the smart ones, will come to not like Bobby Abreu's game. I played the fantasy game in my head for a little when we got him, although I didn't like giving up any talent aside from a salary dump, and he produced a little last year. But truth is he's not a real good all around player, and he's very deficient in areas that will glare. His best days are behind him. Trot Nixon is outhitting him in Cleveland, and Nixon would have cost a lot less, and he missed time this season. And I wouldn't have been adverse to opening the checkbook for JD Drew, who has an all around game. Abreu's going through the Bernie period, although a lot younger. He made it on pure talent, and now he's paying for it, and his lack of instincts for the game stick out more. Why couldn't we get lucky and that hit Ramirez. He's just as stupid a player as those two, but he'll seemingly hit .300 40 til he's 45 |

It's funny how you mentioned Trott Nixon. I've been able to follow all the teams on MLB TV and have really seen Nixon playing very well. He would have been great fit for the Yankees. |

Nixon would have been dicey because he does get and plays hurt. Drew has shown he has shaken that stigma. But I would have either went one year on Trot, since the guy could produce heavy dividends for a low price, and it's incentive, or I'd have signed Drew. There really isn't much on the RF market, but I didn't like the thought of Abreu for years. I do wonder about the next season's RF free agents, but I think the Yankees got Abreu planning on him being here for awhile. I don't think that was wise. |

He's the worst defender I've ever seen and his arm is flat out over rated. :fyou: |
