He's hitting the sh*t out of the ball and looks good in the field as well...Plus he's been clutch in spots, and thats all I really want from the guy.

Just giving some credit where credit is due.

And this way I dont get accused of being unfair when he sucks in October and I rip him to shreds.

Dont start with the bullshit again Alex. Keep it real Nugga. The fans will tear you up as soon as they perceive you to be less then honest ( and stop hitting homeruns more frequently than I take shits.)

That's why I provided a link so people could see he played in the 1870's!

I watched Donnie from the beginning (I'm 34). I've always felt that way.

Not anymore. That honor now goes to Mariano.

And a strong case can be made for Jeter. I'm still not sure on that one.

I'm 36 and saw Mattingly play his whole career. That bad back of his is the only thing that prevented Donnie from being and absolute all-time great / first ballot lock hall-of-famer...

Even though Mariano is the greatest reliever of all time, I have a hard time saying the best player I ever saw wasnt an everyday player.

And I am one of the biggest Jeter jocksniffs around, but Mattingly was a much better player than Jeter. He could hit for a very high average AND had power on top of being arguably the best defensive first baseman in the game.

Several of Mattingly's peers have been enshrined in Cooperstown so far.

Puckett, Winfield, Gary Carter, Eddie Murray, Molitor, Eckersley, Boggs, Sandberg, Sutter, Gwynn and Ripken.

Out of that list, IMO, only Dave Winfield is comparible to Donnie IN HIS PRIME as a guy who could hit for high average AND power AND gold glove defense....

Not taking away anything from the other guys because they were all legit great players, but they managed to stay healthy and put up great numbers...Mattingly didnt have the luxury of health and I am on the fence about his ever being inducted into the Hall Of Fame...

But in his prime, he was the best all around player in the game.

But yeah, he looks great so far.

I know what your saying BC2, but think of it like this:

You're on the bubble about Mattingly going to the Hall, right?

What about Mariano? Do you even have to think twice? I don't.

And Jeter's likely going.

Add all the rings...

Mariano and Jeter are both first ballot locks....

But like I said about Mo, I cant call a guy who pitches maybe 3 or 4 innings a week the best I ever saw. The best Reliever I ever saw? Absolutely....He is so great I might even say he's the best Pitcher I ever saw, although I saw an awful lot of Nolan Ryan, Seaver, Clemens, Maddux etc...But Mo's postseason dominance certainly puts him in the argument. But certainly not the best all around player I have seen. That has to be an everyday guy.

And Jeter has never been the best offensive OR defensive Shortstop in the game at any time.

Mattingly was both at the same time.

And you cant fault Mattingly for Wayne Tolleson, Bobby Meacham, Dale Berra, and all that sh*t pitching.

IMO it's pretty easy for me to say Mattingly is the best I ever saw...(in his prime, when he was healthy).....It's a no brainer actually.

So if he sucks in April, like last year, it's a big deal, when he does good, "it's only April."

It's nice to see Arod doing so well...He looks like he's relaxed and having fun out there too which is the biggest difference I see in him so far...

Lets hope he keeps it up..

Interesting coming from somebody who holds A-Rod accountable for team accomplishments not reached.

Jesus Christ Homey, just let it go.

I hold only Arod himself accountable for him being a fecking lezbian for the past 2 postseasons and the last 4 games of the Red Sox series in 2004. And for beiing total dogshit close and late last year....

Dude, the guy is not my favorite player. I have fun ripping him when he deserves it. He has been stellar so far this season and I have come right out and applauded him. So I'm trying to be fair. I want the guy to win me over with his play. For a whole year. In the postseason too. I'm not going to go crazy because he's having a great April. I know you feel the exact opposite of this guy that I do..But you dont have to show up everytime I post something about him.

I dont follow you around with a post everytime you lick his sack.

Let it go already....
