http://www.robertplant.com/index.php?l1=2&...135bd1491900ea3 ROBERT PLANT AND THE STRANGE SENSATION DUE OCTOBER 24, 2006 DVD Box Image ROUNDER RECORDS/ZOË VISION TO RELEASE FIRST-EVER MUSIC DVD BY ROBERT PLANT ROBERT PLANT AND THE STRANGE SENSATION DUE OCTOBER 24 (out on Universal in UK AND ROW on October 23rd); FEATURING MUSIC FROM PLANT‘S ILLUSTRIOUS SOLO CAREER AND LED ZEPPELIN On October 24, Rounder Records/Zoë Vision (Universal in UK and Rest of the World) will release the first-ever music DVD from the legendary Robert Plant. Produced by Soundstage and directed by Joe Thomas, Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation were featured in concert recently on PBS television and is a must-see for new and old fans of one of rock’s most celebrated figures. Few recording artists achieve the type of legacy that Robert Plant has enjoyed, from his early career fronting hard rock juggernaut Led Zeppelin to his critically acclaimed solo works. Plant‘s musical ventures range from gritty blues to edgy metal, delicate acoustic balladry, lush soundscapes infused with electronic elements, glowing pop, and roots music from around the world. “The spirit of rock’n‘roll is live performance,” asserts Plant. “Studio recordings can be captivating, and live albums can capture some of the synergy in a concert, but there is really nothing like being in the moment when the music is connecting you to the people- it’s truly a communion.” Celebrating the magic of live musical performance was the impetus behind the landmark PBS series, Soundstage. The program initially ran for 11 years (from 1974 through 1985) and featured some of the most prestigious names in popular music, including Bob Dylan, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Arlo Guthrie, Jose Feliciano, and the Temptations, to name but a few. Taped before small studio audiences, these intimate performances offered home viewers a unique concert experience and fresh perspective on the performers and their craft. The program was recently resurrected and has been captivating a new generation of music fans with one-hour live sets by a diversity of artists. So it is fitting that Robert Plant‘s first-ever DVD release is his Soundstage performance which was filmed at the Soundstage Studios in Chicago on September 16, 2005, with his band, Strange Sensation. The quintet features Clive Deamer (drums) from Portishead and Roni Size projects; John Baggott (keyboards) of Portishead and Massive Attack; Billy Fuller (bass) from Bristol band Fuzz Against Junk; ambient guitarist Skin, formerly of Brit Pop phenomenon Cast; and Justin Adams (late of Sinead O’Connor, Jah Wobble, and the Wayward Shakes) playing gimbri, darbouka, and guitar. Clocking in at 66 minutes total, the program was captured live in high-definition and mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound. The set ran the gamut from reinvented Led Zeppelin classics to some striking selections from Plant‘s solo career. “No Quarter” is infused with rich world music flavors; “Black Dog” is fueled by a deeper, funkier groove, and an inspired version of “Four Sticks” is dedicated to the late, great Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham, whose death in 1980 marked the end of the band. Material from 2005’s twice Grammy- nominated Mighty Rearranger, Plant‘s first album of all new material in more than ten years and a collection described by Rolling Stone magazine as an infusion of “exotic melodies and blues thunder” includes “Freedom Fries,” a roots rocker with a political twist. The concert closes with a bang-an extended rendering of Zeppelin’s orgasmic opus, “Whole Lotta Love” which loses none of its vim despite a more subdued arrangement and low-key setting. Bonus tracks include a rendition of “Hey Joe,” the William Roberts classic popularized by guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix and featured on Plant‘s twice Grammy-nominated 2002 album Dreamland and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Girl from the North Country.” “It‘s quite something to watch successive generations of music fans discover and appreciate your work,” Plant observes. “It’s kind of like rediscovering the world through a child‘s eyes. You find fresh nuances in the music and the songs continue to grow with a life of their own. As I’ve explored the rich musical traditions of North Africa and the Middle East, elements of those musics have worked their way into some of the most unlikely songs-and that kind of constant reinvention keeps your creativity piqued.” Great music has the power to continue captivating people over time. This DVD is a modest testament to the timelessness of Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant. Track Listing: 1. No Quarter 2. Shine It All Around 3. Black Dog 4. Freedom Fries 5. Four Sticks 6. Tin Pan Valley 7. Gallows Pole 8. The Enchanter 9. Whole Lotta Love Bonus songs: 10. Hey Joe 11. Girl from the North Country :guitar1: :guitar: :ET: |

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee." :agent: |

Whole Lotta Love: Led Zeppelin crash internet Promoter claims 20 million fans have tried to register online for tickets to the reunion show, causing an internet service provider's network to collapse Rosie Swash Thursday September 13, 2007 Guardian Unlimited It was the most highly anticipated comeback of the year, but until yesterday, when Led Zeppelin officially announced their intention to reform, no one knew quite how high that anticipation would be. Today, however, promoters have revealed that demand for tickets brought down not only the website that sells them, but its internet service provider too. A spokesperson for the gig told Guardian Unlimited Music that mid-way through yesterday's press conference to announce the one-off gig at London's 02 Arena in November, at the precise point where promoter Harvey Goldsmith confirmed details of the show, ISP Pipex reported to organisers that their network had collapsed. Promoters have since claimed that a staggering 20 million people attempted to get tickets for the gig. This seems unlikely, and is perhaps an extrapolation from Pipex's claims that their service would only fail if more than 80,000 people attempted to use the service at exactly the same time. Though Pipex services have returned to normal, the website is still struggling under the weight of demand, and Pipex have said they "may struggle to find a server large enough to handle capacity". Organisers are urging fans not to give up on getting through, however. "The message is to be patient," a spokesperson for the event said today. "The website will be open until midday Monday September 17 for anyone wanting to register. It is not 'first come first served' and all successful applicants will be entered into the ballot for tickets to be drawn at random." Goldsmith confirmed the details of the upcoming reunion show at a press conference yesterday. All proceeds from the night will go to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund. Led Zeppelin split up 27 years ago following the death of their drummer John Bonham in 1980. The three surviving members of the band last played together in 1988. They will be joined on stage for their reunion gig by Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini. 20 million fans have tried to register online for tickets    :ET: :guitar: :guitar1: |

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2007/nov/2...=rss&feed=media Led Zeppelin ad lands on UK TV Led Zeppelin have launched a TV ad campaign to promote new double album Mothership in the runup to their reunion concert next month. The campaign - which uses red-and-black animation modelled on the cover art by "street art" illustrator Shepard Fairey - trails the legendary rock band's reunion more than 25 years after they broke up. The 60-second ad, created by Fold7TV - the TV arm of design agency Fold7 - features a medley of snippets from classic Led Zeppelin songs such as Kashmir, Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love and Immigrant Song. It also features rotoscoped footage - where animators trace over live-action film - of the band performing. :guitar1: :guitar: :ET: |
