He is one of the all time great pitching coaches. He was the architect of the great Oakland pitching staffs of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. With St. Louis he has turned Chris Carpenter into the best pitcher in the NL and now it appears he has worked wonders with Jeff Weaver. The Mets players said tonight Weaver was throwing a lot harder than when they last saw him right after the Cardinals picked him up.

I think its a combination of Weaver pitching a rare good game and the mets not hitting a pitcher they were supposed to hit.
