They just broke in to the A's/Twins game and said El Duque was going to have an MRI on his calf - evidently he hurt it while running today.

Not sure if he'll be able to start tomorrow.

Time to do some more running on the beach.

Smokescreen folks. Mets are playing the same games with their game 1 starter ther Dodgers are playing with their game 2 starter. Dodgers are expecting Maine now, El Duque will be announced as the starter around 9AM tomorrow.

We don't need to use petty tricks to beat any team :-|

Yeah, great plan! Then the Dodgers only have a whole 7 hours to prepare. :-|

11:14 PM - News: LHP Beimel Cuts Left Hand in Hotel Room

...posted by D.J. Short...
In yet another twist in a bizarre day, MLB.com is reporting that Dodgers LHP Joe Beimel cut his left hand on some broken glass in his hotel room early Tuesday morning. His status for the post-season roster is now in jeopardy...

Beimel had an excellent season as the Dodgers primary left-handed set-up man, with a 2.96 ERA in 62 appearances. He has held left-handed batters to a .234 batting average...

The buzz is that Mark Hendrickson or rookie Chad Billingsley would likely take the place of Beimel if he is indeed left off the roster...

...this is a potentially significant blow for the dodgers...beimel would surely get a chance in some big spots vs. the lefty-heavy mets lineup...

...stay tuned...a lot to be decided in the morning...

Well at least this could be good news

El Duque has a tear on his calf, and is off the postseason roster at least for the 1st round, Maine will start today, Oliver Perez, Ring and Tucker are on the roster, DiFelice is off the roster, hearing this from WFAN. :no1:

We have to sweep I don't even want to think who is our game 4 starter

Remember the Maine! And, remember that the Mets best post-season pitching performance was done by Bobby Jones, of all people.

Hopefully, this can be an hors d'oeuvres for Game 1.

What was supposed to be a 30-minute spot turned out to be a 2-hour in-studio with Daily News Mets beat reporter Adam Rubin last night. If you get a chance, please give it a listen. I haven't had time to write up the topics discussed yet, but it covers tons and tons of stuff that I think you'll find interesting.

The interview is up at

http://hosted.filefront.com/patchyfogg

Part 1 is 72 commercial-free minutes, and Part 2 is 48 commercial-free minutes.

As always, thanks.

That's too bad. We could use a guy like Christ to shore up the starting rotation. He's got a great changeup and can locate his corners. I also hear he's a good contact hitter, but has power to all fields. Can't run the bases for spit, though.

Actually the Mets already have their token Jew.

Although the Yankees could have used him today.
