JETS Vs. BUCS

http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/s...short_name=news
The New York Jets begin their 2006 quest Friday night in Tampa Bay, meeting the Buccaneers in a week one preseason match-up. Thirty-five year old Eric Mangini will make his coaching debut as the second youngest coach in National Football League history. Ironically, Mangini’s first coaching counterpart will be Jon Gruden, who in 1998 became the league’s youngest coach after he was hired by the Oakland Raiders at age 34.

I wasn't home but I taped the game (well, 2 hours cuz the sh*t was on SP or EP or whichever wrong tape setting) and I'm watching it now.

Pennington must've got the 2-for-1 and had Tommy John surgery while he was in the hospital. He's throwing with more zip than he had at any point and he's really putting some torque into them. They're all dinks, but they're getting there quickly and that's what's important for him.

DeWayne Robertson is gonna kill you at NT. I thought you should've drafed or signed one and moved him to DE (best you can do since you don't have 3-4 personnel). He's getting stood up and on one play, he got knocked down. And it's something we thought before the season.

btw - Am I the only that thinks Justin Miller should be off kickoffs? I don't want my RCB running behind a friggin' wedge trying to hustle for 23 yards and risking injury. If he's gonna get hurt, I want to be while making a tackle or taking on a block at cornerback.

Pennington looked solid...Again, no deep balls, but he kept moving the chains and looked comfortable in the pocket, pretty good performance against the Bucs 1st team D...

Robertson is a huge liability at NT, but with the money he's being paid, Pouha being hurt and him being pretty much the only big DT we have, he's put their by default IMO, which is gonna suck...How many times did Vilma get gobbled up because of him?(Another concern) Robertson didn't get low enough, he was constantly getting out-muscled and pancaked...

Miller looked very good at CB...I wouldn't mind taking him away from KR, put Dwight there...But the Jets do have alot of depth for someone else to be KR(Dwight,Smith,Cotchery)

My thoughts from the game is that as Strider has said Penny has some zip on his throws, although we have problems giving up penetration to Tampa's front 4, which is probably why we were in the dink and dunk offense, and also why we gave up the Penny sack and we struggled with our running game and as others have mentioned Drob in NT is a big problem, and is something we have to address or our defense will be real bad this year, and most likely lead to the bottom of the league against the run again

Also it looks like Tim Dwight is going to play the Wayne Chrebet role

But I was out and having fun, brotha. It's just that I love the football so I had to tape it. I taped the Giants in my room and the Jets in the living room. You were probably watching the Yankees game. :smirk:
