Sheffield can top those numbers (he can get your 15 steals too) and wouldn't make $15M per.
Get me Carlos Lee, pick up Sheffield's option for next year and deal Giambi in the off-season.

To who? Wasn't his contract backloaded? I know in the last couple seasons he's making a shitload. Power numbers considered, you'd be hard-pressed to find a team willing to spend $20M or even $15M, if you're paying some, on a 36-year-old .255 hitter who can't field.

He's only got 2 years left on his deal after this year. I could see him fitting on the Angels.

You want to go watch soccer, bicycling, wrestling, football...whatever, be my guest. I'll still be a true Yankee fan and hang in there until there eliminated.
You and me both, MM! I watch other sports, but the Yankees are always number one in my heart, and there's no reason to give up. Even if eliminated, I'd watch most of the games, and focus on the future of the team.
I bet you two rainbower's are stuck together in more than a few ways...
wow that's original....we can do without your "hey looka me posts". You bring plenty of good posts but then you throw your crap in with it.
Don't patronize me you Spinless worm
You wrote the book on spineless JACKOV. Go root for one of your soccer clubs. There are men talking baseball here.

Then it makes a little more sense because DH opens up, but the Yankees lose a lefty power hitter for a righty. Which teams would take Giambi, and for what?

He makes $18M next season and 2008, $21M in 2009 and then he's got a team option for $22M or a $5M buyout. You ain't moving that.

I thought it was a 7 year deal...this is his 5th year. no?
7-Year worth 120M + he receives a 17M Signing bonus that is paid 3M in 2002, 4M in '03 and '04, 4.5M in '05, 1M in '06 and 0.5M in '07 -- he will make in 2002 -8M, in 2003 -9M, in 2004 -10M, in 2005 -11M, in 2006 -18M and in 2007 and 08 -21M and in 2009 -Team Option 22M or 5M buyout
My mistake, the buyout was for 2009. But still, ain't nobody gon' take that. And we always kind of overlook/forget how old he is. A 36-year-old has at least $47M coming to him over the next 3 years.

yeah, but then they can spin Duncan for something else.
But....have to have a window to sign Lee to a 3 year 40 mill deal...feck that 5-75 he wants.
He's good, but I don't know if he's a long-term solution. I know he's been on Web Gems a few times, but by the numbers, he's not a good defender. He's got a lower fielding percentage and range factor than Sheffield -- who we've watched. And for someone who hits for pretty good power, he doesn't walk enough. He's a .280/30-35 HR/100 RBI type and that's good, but that's not a "lock him down until he's 35 at $15M per" player. Come now.
Yeah, no way you give him that money or that length. Word on the street is that part of the reason Milwaukee doesn't want to go that long is they don't believe he will be more than a DH in a few years. I'd be fine with 3 years at $13 million, something like that, but $15 million a year for 5? No way. - Quote:
-
He's got 12sb also.
So? Miguel Cairo has 10.
What the hay does Cairo have to do with it. I pointed out his 12 sb in half a season(with only 2cs) to show Lee has more to offer than just batting average and power. Weak hitting role player Cairo was a poor choice for comparison.

My point is I don't care he has 12 stolen bases. Anyone can have 12 stolen bases.
Kocur, you've been better since you came back last year. Now you're reverting to your meaningless sh*t talking and spam. What's next, new usernames on a weekly basis again?

Annualize that and it's over 20sb. Pretty decent for a power hitter I'd say. :peace:

Sure it is, but it doesn't change my opinion of him not being a 5 year guy. He's a big guy who will not have much mobility down the road. When I think of Carlos Lee, I don't even bring stolen bases into the equation. I really only care about stolen bases out of top of the order type guys, which moves them into scoring position or 90 feet away for the Carlos Lees of the world to drive in. It's a bonus to be able to run, if needed, but not something I think about. It's like A-Rod. He can steal a bunch if needed, but part of me would prefer he doesn't. It's not like Lee is even a 20 stolen bases a year guy. If he gets that many, it will be his career high.
