f*ck him, I hope he does. I'm laughing my ass off at the lack of success *outside of last year* that he's had in 2 of his 3 years there. We offered up more money and he decided not to take it. f*ck him and his **** wife! He could have stayed kept winning games for the bombers and eventually had #46 retired, now f*ck him.

I still say offer Pettitte 2 years, $20 million, something to that extent. If he decides to retire, so be it, but make the offer.

Dude, he's proven he could pitch here. Many people can't. I don't think it's nuts to offer him a 2 year deal at that rate.

I wouldn't bank on him pitching good anywhere next season.

I still say it's worth it for two years. The Yankees gave Wright three years and I think everyone knew that was nuts.

He's got an ERA above 5 this year, I think offering $10 mil per for a guy with a past history of elbow troubles who's having a bad year and is considering walking away would be a bit much. I'd say 2 for $14 tops if they make an offer at all, but Jaret Wright is a good example. We gave that piece of sh*t 3 years at $8 mil per, so I guess $10 mil for Pettitte isn't too bad when you consider some of the stuff this organization has done the past couple years.

That money does make more sense than mine. I was just thinking, if the guy is talking about walking away, it will take something to get him not to.

This isn't me being sentimental at all. I just know he can pitch in NY and most guys seem not to be able to do so. Obviously he'd have to prove he's healthy enough first and finish up this bad year in a strong fashion. If that's the case, he'd be an upgrade, and I wouldn't be looking at him as an ace. That would still be another area to address, if possible.

Pettitte will look back at leaving the Yanks as the worst career move he made. With the exception of Terps and Matty he has no fans left in NY.

I haven't seen Terps say anything, but I know I said this:

It's the same reason I supported going after Clemens.

Actually I wore his #46 t-shirt a few weeks ago! I do still like the guy, but that's not why I think an offer should be made.

By the way, I probably have around 15 of those t-shirts, so I think that was the first time I had worn Pettitte's in a couple of years.

The guy went home and pitched in front of friends and family. He made it to the WS last year, has pitched with his buddy Clemens and has those rings he won while a Yankee. He also has more money than he’ll ever need. I don’t think he’s sorry about any career move he’s made. BTW in time Yankee fans will love him once again.

You can use one from the kiddie section size “small” for that. :D

I didn't like it when he left either.

Yet, if he does retire. Thanks for the memories.

I agree Mattingly. It wouldn't hurt to make the offer, the worst that could happen is he retires.
