The only way I do that deal is if the city of Philadelphia includes the Liberty Bell.

The Liberty Bell is overrated. Who would want anything that's cracked?

I'd rather a dozen cheese steaks from Pat's instead of the Liberty Bell.

Are you one of these JACKOVS that starts these dumb rumors? It was circulating around Wall Street? Since when do rumors circulate around Wall Street. It was probably a bunch of traders talking fantasy baseball on their lunch break, if anything. Anyway, as I said in another thread:

Yeah, he's likely to accept a deal to another city right down the road known for booing, a city that booed their own, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, not to mention Santa Claus. The rumor is even dumber because it includes Melky. The Yankees would be giving them arguably the most talented all around player in baseball at $16 million/yr since Texas pays the other $9M/yr, the Yankees would be taking ALL of their bad contracts, and have to give up a switch hitter who is about to turn 22 and could perform on the big stage on top of that? Ridicurous. It makes no sense for the Yankees, no sense for A-Rod, and allows Gillick to get a great player, clear all of his bad deals, and sets his infield for the next five years with A-Rod, Rollins, Utley, and Howard. Where do these dumb rumors come from?

A-Rod acknowledged the rumors that he wants out in the postgame. This is from Sam Borden's column in today's Daily News:

Quote:

Whether it's strikeouts, sunbathing or sidearm throws that sail, Rodriguez cannot escape the spotlight, and there has even been speculation recently - bizarre as it may sound - that perhaps Rodriguez would like to get out of the Bronx.

A-Rod quickly quashed such thoughts, which most around the Yankees find to be preposterous.

"That's not true," he said flatly. "That couldn't be further from the truth. That's a ridiculous thought."

Maybe, though no one would deny Rodriguez is going through an increasingly difficult time right now. His error last night was his fourth in the past four games (he made three on Monday) and he has spent much of this season getting booed by his home fans when he struggles at the plate.

As Joe Torre said, if someone else had made the same miscue, it would have been seen as just an error. With Rodriguez - right or wrong, fair or unfair - it's going to be more.

"I'm working through it," said A-Rod, who earlier this week was questioned about whether spending an hour in Central Park sunbathing contributed to his ugly showing in that night's game. "It's not easy, that's for sure."

Questioning the guy about sunbathing in Central Park is beyond idiotic. He lives in Manhattan and he's not allowed to spend an hour on a nice day in Central Park? I have friends who work their asses off for 70+ hours a week as corporate lawyers and even they find time to lay out in Central Park for a few hours a week. People act like baseball players aren't human. A slumping baseball player can't go to Central Park? What a complete joke.

Come on MM, they get a great player, and the Yankees get all of their salary dumps. You don't think that's worth Melky? Wake up.
