Pull Halladay, who's cruising, and we tie the score. Nice.

That was some classic overmanaging. Halladay was cruising the past few innings.

It seems like it always happens every time a manager does something like this. Not out there so I can't say for sure, but I probably would've left Doc in to face Giambi.

Peter Gibbons pulled a Joe Torre.

He's a little distracted because he has a meeting with the Bobs right after the game. They're the ones who laid off Hillenbrand.

Speaking of Hillenbrand, I'd like to see him show up in Toronto sometime in the next day or two to terrorize his old team.

Unfortunately he wasn't released as some outlets reported, so that's not happening. He would have been a great out of nowhere pickup for absolutely nothing. They won't deal him in the AL East. If nobody makes a deal though, he'll be released after the 10 days.

I guess I'd have known that if I paid attention to the announcers.

Still if he winds up getting released he'd be a big pickup. Not likely though, they'll get something out of him. He'll probably go to the Red Sox.

They kind of still have a glut at 1B, 3B, and DH, which is why they dealt him in the first place. He wants to play, which is why he was crying on Toronto. It's not out of the realm of possibilities, but I don't see it. Anaheim is supposedly interested.

Oh I don't actually see him going there. Would just figure. Anaheim's another team with a ton of 3B/1B guys. Younger ones albeit, but still.

They're feckin morons to designate him.

1. They can't use him against the Yankees, who he hits well against.

2. It kills his trade value

They should have just put him on the bench while they worked out a trade. :dunno:

They didn't care about the baseball ramifications. They were making a point. Not saying I agree with it. But hey, this is how a hard nosed GM like J.P. works. He's VC.

I think it was Gibbons. Gibbons has had problems dealing with Him all year. :peace:

It was a team decision. They're both VC. Tough as nails, no ice cream, no green tea, and you better believe there's not a peach pit to be found in that Toronto dugout.

From Sam Borden in today's Daily News:

Quote:

SHEA WHAT? One player the Yanks don't figure to get, though they'd love to have, is Shea Hillenbrand, the Toronto DH who was designated for assignment Wednesday night after criticizing the organization. The Bombers have always liked Hillenbrand, who used to play for Boston, but Oakland, Anaheim and San Diego are believed to be the front-runners. Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi spoke passionately about his decision yesterday. "Maybe I come from a different line of thinking and contrary to maybe what some of you guys think, but you make $5.8 million, you're healthy, you wake up in the morning without any physical problems and you're not happy?" Ricciardi said. "I would rather lose than sell myself out and have someone play here that says those kinds of things about our organization. I wouldn't even want the job if it meant I have to change everything I believe in."

After Hillenbrand wrote on the clubhouse bulletin board that the "ship was sinking," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons challenged him to a fight. There was no brawl, but the tense relationship between the two reached the breaking point during a team meeting Wednesday night. Gibbons was adamant that he would've quit if Hillenbrand wasn't cut.

It seems like a joint decision to me. If J.P. really wanted to keep the guy, he would have let Gibbons quit.

:please: Well what about the two or three other guys who were part of the "prank"?? They skate for being cowards and not owning up? :wtf:

I suppose this was just the final straw on a problem that had been building for quite some time. :peace:

Yeah, I think this was the straw that broke Hillenbrand's back, but the other pussies should have stood up too. I wonder who they were. I know a few guys were upset about cutting Shea and some said it would help the clubhouse. Not suprisingly, the ones who ripped him didn't attach their names to the quotes.
