Strahan's divorce trial gets real ugly

By AUSTIN FENNER and DAVE GOLDINER
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

New York Giants sack king Michael Strahan grimaces in the stand yesterday during his nasty divorce case with estranged wife, Jean.

Michael Strahan's nasty divorce trial hit a new low yesterday - as his estranged wife suggested the Giants sack king and handsome married TV doctor Ian Smith are more than just friends.
After the couple's marriage collapsed, "Michael moved into Ian's one-bedroom apartment," Jean Strahan told reporters after another bruising day in divorce court.

"And you can say an alternative lifestyle sprouted," she added, though her lawyer stopped her before she could elaborate.

The blond mother of two dropped the bombshell after the burly gridiron great made her cry in court when he testified that he couldn't remember her birthday.

"He basically denied we ever existed," Jean Strahan, 41, said angrily. "It was devastating to hear."

Michael Strahan himself hinted at some controversy when he said in court that he wasn't sure whether one of his love letters was addressed to "Jean" or "John."

"I've been accused ..." Strahan, 34, quipped on the witness stand before cutting himself off in midsentence and flashing his gap-toothed smile.

Strahan's lawyer rejected any hint that there's anything more than a friendship between his client and Smith.

"It sounds like sour grapes by someone who doesn't like what's going on in the court," said attorney Robert Penza.

Ian Smith derided Jean Strahan's comments as "absolutely ridiculous."

"This is laughable," said Smith, a best-selling author and medical correspondent for ABC's "The View." "I am a very happily married man."

Later, Jean Strahan's lawyer tried to back away a bit.

"I don't think she's making a definitive allegation," said Ellen Marshall, the lawyer. "Couples have private squabbles. This is one of them."

Smith's name has come up several times in the bitter Strahan vs. Strahan divorce case, which seems to get uglier by the day - rife with allegations of infidelity and arguments over who's the bigger spender.

Jean Strahan said she was miffed when her husband brought Smith into the hospital room when she gave birth to twin girls in 2004.

She also charged that Smith hooked Strahan up with extramarital affairs with women in Los Angeles and Toronto - claims the NFL star has repeatedly denied.

When things really got ugly last year, Smith put Strahan up at his upper East Side pad after the athlete's marriage imploded.

The doctor insisted he was simply doing what anyone would do for a friend in need.

"Michael Strahan is one of my best friends and needed a place to stay after he was kicked out of his own home," Smith said. "I let him sleep on my couch as any best friend would do."

Smith, 36, wed his longtime girlfriend, high-powered Chicago lawyer Triste Lieteau, last year in a glittering candlelit ceremony at the Rainbow Room.

Even before Jean Strahan's explosive comments, things were already testy as the Strahans sparred over their big-bucks divorce in Essex County Family Court in Newark.

Her lawyer, Marshall, unveiled a string of sticky-sweet love letters in an effort to debunk Michael Strahan's claim that his wife abandoned their marriage.

"It's my first day of camp, I already miss you," Strahan wrote from Giants training camp in 2004.

In another letter, the 275-pound defensive tackle wrote the words "I love you" over and over - 24 times in all.

"Thanks for taking care of me," he wrote to her after an injury. "I promise to always take care of you."

Jean Strahan kept hundreds of gooey love letters to document their romance.

But she burst into tears when Strahan, sitting just 6 feet away, said he didn't know why one was dated March 22. It turns out that is her birthday.

He also said he didn't remember several cards, including one created from the ultrasound image of their twins during her pregnancy.

"I compiled them all because it's the only history of our love," Jean Strahan said. "That's going to be the only history of us together."

Why hasn't FOX approached the Strahans and the judge with an offer to make this divorce a reality show?

Who cares? He does a great job during the season! So he's allegedly gay and what not, nothing wrong with that, as long as he can play good and is happy there is nothing wrong with it.

He ain't no homo. That dumb bitch is lying. And I don't even know what for since the man's sexual preference would have no pertinence in this. It's just slander. And we all know that Strahan's been inside more women than a gyno, so nobody believes her. A man can't crash at his married friend's house after being kicked out of his own by a judge? Did Jean expect him to go rent an apartment or stay at a hotel? The most embarassing thing for him out of this is the corny love letter in which he said "I love you" 24 times, like an 8th grader.

Colin Cowherd was real high on Clemens this morning. He said he's a farmboy who bales (or bail) hay and all that sh*t. Said the coaching staff loves him because he's got that country work ethic and he stays until 9-10 watching film. He said that Jets fans shouldn't be surprised if he winds up starting at some point this season and if he turns out to be the best QB in this draft.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kellen starts at some point this year since the Jets are a 5-6 win team. If they're sittin at 3-9, which is very possible, then put the kid in...

That's a big if, if he turns out to be the best QB in the draft...I still will say Leinart and I will, and with his weapons that he will have, he'll definately be a very good QB...

They need to give Kelln help obviously for 07' and beyond...And they started off nicely with D'Brick/Mangold...But a RB, #2 WR, possibly a TE will all have to be in the agenda of building a solid, not great, just solid offense around him.

Are there any big-time tight ends coming out next year? He's gonna need one and maybe two. McCareins has the nuts and size to go over the middle so I think he'll be OK as your No. 2 with Clemens, but he's gonna have to operate mostly in the middle of the field. Ya'll need a tight end with size and speed who can run the post and get separation for him. Leonard Pope would've been a nice pick in the 3rd. He went right after the pick you gave the Eagles.

He's got his flaws (3/4, sometimes sidearm delivery, poor footwork sometimes, not a great arm, bad deep ball) but if everything is right around him, I think he's got a lot of upside and can thrive. Drew Brees II. Just find him an Antonio Gates.

And I think they need to upgrade at RT too. Didn't like Jones. At RB, I don't think he's the starter of the future, but you'll like Washington. That lil' nigga da troof. Warrick Dunn type.

hahah I know he's not gay, that's why I said "allegedly" And yeah, she's really f*cking nuts man, it's not like the judge cares anyway whether he was gay or not... she just wants money, they all want money!

No idea on tight-ends for next draft...This is JMac's last chance to prove his 2nd round trade and contract...He's put up pretty good/average numbers...But his drops and occasional short-arms is old. He's got the size and speed you want in a #2, but plays like a 4th WR...I wouldn't of wanted Pope, if their was a TE I wanted, it was Marcedes Lewis and Marcedes Lewis only...Leonard Pope, Dominique Byrd, Fasano, nah i'll pass.

Clemens fits this style of Schottenheimer's West Coast offense...Quick reads, quick throws, accurate and decision making...Just like you said, he needs a big TE who can get behind the LBers quickly, and make the tough grabs...Not Tony Gonzalez jumping over Bob Sanders and out-muscling him for a 15 yard catch, just someone who goes up in traffic...

RT i'd agree...Jones did below-average at RT last season, and on the left-side he did a solid showing...But i'd like a 310+ pound type RT personally, he'll have a chance to hold and keep the job so we'll see.

And RB...I want Adrian Peterson :D

I think Lewis will be crap, OK at best. And if he is OK, it'll be because the Jags don't have a proven No. 1 or 2 receiver and Leftwich, behind a sh*t line, will be dumping off to the tight end underneath. But that boy can't run routes. He's too lanky for his own good; doesn't have the agility, flexibility and foot quickness to run sharp routes and get ideal separation. Everything he gets, it's from his height and great hands. He looks like Kareen Abdul-Jabbar out there. He and Pope are around the same height, but Pope's got muscle and a solid build with it and better body control.

Pope, to me, doesn't project to a great TE, but I think he's got enough speed (I'd give him an 82 in Madden), good hands and good enough short route running skills to be a reliable 50-catch guy and a decent red zone threat. He can also make some acrobatic catches.

Byrd, Fasano and the rest of them - they don't even count. It was Davis..... Pope and Lewis.....................nobodies. Joe Klopfenstein had nice combine numbers but he's still raw. And me being me, I can't picture a guy with that name even being on an NFL roster so I expect him to get hurt and flop. Byrd is trash. He's the slowest tight end since Becht and Bubba Franks -- and unlike them, he ain't a great blocker.

A veteran RT is probably something you can get via free agency.

Ya'll don't deserve him! I've been on his dick longer. You'll probably have a top 10 pick so you're in position. But I do think he's got to have an injury-free season to go really high. In both seasons he's battled injuries (shoulder and legs) and last season it really f*cked him up. That, plus he's had some academic sh*t, didn't do as well when he was called on to be "the guy" after they lost some o-line and Jason White and Clayton left and he's not that fast. Madden speed, he's about a 90. Good, but not gamebreaker like some of them long 2004 runs led us to think. But he's still the sh*t. He's got good enough speed, great moves - especially for his size - with good vision, burst and power. He's like 6-2/230 but he runs correct. He gets low and can put it on some people.

Can't Mike sue her for slander or some sh*t and get back what she's going to steal from him? No, he can't, but he sure should be allowed. God, if I became rich of my own doing and some **** tried this sh*t on me, she'd be sleeping with Hoffa. I think the wild card here is the kids. They help her case and they would probably hinder any desire to do her harm. I don't think Mike can do anything at all, but give her an undeserved amount of millions and move on with his life. Can't throw away his life over some ****, but damn, she deserves bad things to her that she'll never receive. He should at least get to use her as a tackling bag at minicamp. She hasn't earned a dime otherwise.

That's what he gets for picking a "bleh" looking giraffe of a **** that he meant in a candy store. The bitch is 7 years older than him too.

He's now with Eva Pigford, the first winner from America's Top Model. He waits till now to find a good-looking golddigger.
