Why is Cairo running all over the place in Kevin Thompson's first MLB AB?

Is there not enough pressure on the kid in that spot to begin with?

Stupid decision. I was screaming as soon as I saw him take off for 3rd.

I'm all for agressive baserunning. It forces the other team to make errors.

However, this is the kid's first fu<king MLB AB!

What, he can't take a pitch in his first AB? Chances are he's making an out anyway so they might as well have him stand up and let the runner try to steal.

Only problem I have with it is Cairo not being a base-stealer.

Its distracting and Cairo probably scores from second on a single anyway. How many outs were there?

what was the count when he took off? Thompson is young and making his Debut, so obviously Joe doesn't think there is a chance of him making solid contact. Thats probably why. Torre steals and bunts often when he shouldn't.

I guess Joe was trying to manufacture an RBI for the kid (and a run for the team obviously).
