With all the Yankee woes, these unfortunate injuries has allowed the Yankees to air out more playing time for some of these guys that would never have gotten the chance. Phillips is now getting comfortable at the plate and his defense at first is much, much better than Giambi. Melky is getting very comfy in the outfield, and as a regular guy playing left field, I can predict that he might beat out Matsui for that defensive position. I can see Matsui as an alternating DH and outfield. I see Melky as a player. When I see Melky at bat I get a very good feeling that he can come through more than once in awhile. Him batting in and around Damon and Jeter is a winning combination, I believe. I also like the Melky challenging Cano in hopes that both will play out of the ass to perform. Thank god Melky got another chance for the Yankees. |

Even the biggest VD pessimist has to agree: This team has some balls. |

We're playing over .600 ball with an All Star team on the DL. |

We're playing without Sheffield and Matsui. Take either ManRam or Ortiz off the Sox for a while and see how they fare. |

Maybe some of you guys should start giving Torre credit once in a while. |

I'm one of the Sunshine crowd, and even I won't do that Gate. :peace: J/K - He's done a good job. He always does. However, he does piss me off - often. |

Melky is going to slump, but he's a ball player, no doubt; but will the team hold on to him or feel compelled to deal him? Dotel, while behind schedule, what more could you expect from TJ surgery? It takes some time. Poor Pavano, he hurt his ass then his tricep, poor guy! :no1: Torre, feck him, he's clueless! Terrance Long, boy, after watching him for over a week you realize how bad he really does suck!!!!! Play Thompson, for the love of god! Phillips, Melky, Thompson and Robbie all in the lineup on an everyday basis, how crazy is that!?!?! |

Players are going down like flies, yet the team keeps on winning, and Torre has nothing to do with this? If Sweet Lou were managing the team would be playing at a .800 pct, right? Yeah, sure! :poop: |

Is there any fight left in the dog.....?

While thats true........he still makes assinine moves with the pitching staff, and he has made some horrible substitutions and lineups. He is great motivating guys.........he's horrible between the lines, and he's waaaaayyyyy to freakin loyal to players who have had previous success, when they are stinking up the joint, we've all seen it! |

What exactly has Joe done? Don't tell me "keep the team afloat" because there has been no extra strategy involved -- unless you count using Proctor and Farnsworth every game and pulling starters early. I guess you've gotta give him credit for Jeter's hit last night. Because the average manager would've pulled Jeter for a pinch-hitter in the 6th inning. |

The one thing I will give Joe credit for is his patience. While in the case of Sturtze and Erickson this year it has hurt us, it has also helped with Phillips(although he's really only playing now out of desperation so I guess you can take those points away). Giambi last season kept starting despite what he was doing and that really worked out. He also gave Wright a few starts that we didn't want him to have and it turned out to be for the best. I killed Joe for bunting so much with such a great lineup(we lead the league early on and still might), but now we lead the league in runs despite being 17th in HR. don't get me wrong I'm still against the way he bunts in non-bunt situations. In conclusion I'm not on the Torre Bandwagon and probably won't be due to his Bullpen decisions, but there are things he does well that the Knee-Jerk fan will think are mistakes. |

Joe's bullpen decisions are the worst of any manager I've ever seen. He could have done better just going with random relievers. <_< his allegiance to Sturtze? :please: :please: :please: (hopefully we've seen the last of that guy as he's a free agent at the end of the year, but don't bet on it!) and what the hell is CluelessJoe using erickson in the eigth of a close game??? :wtf: that guy doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a ballfield, let alone caving in at the most crucial moment. . . :annoyed: Smith did well in his previous callup. Since we got the youth movement going, let's get Smith back up here and dump Erickson back to Columbus as last chance insurance. |
