Can you guys confirm...said he heard on the FAN a rumour.

Yanks get: Abreu
Marlins get: Duncan and Hughes
Phillies get: D Willis

This better not be true, but with Sheffield's status can we make it with Long and Melky???? I don't want Hughes dealt, don't really care about Duncan.

I got my boy Dom from PHily on the horn in regards to this one, he's telling me the original deal on the table was Burrell instead of Abreu, this thing might get done soon, Yanks won't include Hughes though, no way shape or form. They are really down on Duncan, he's included in any deal that happens.

I will divert an iceberg to one of George's ship if that trade happens.

As long as Hughes is out, I'm fine.

However, if we have what Florida needs for Willis, then why the fu<k don't we just keep Willis?

:wall: :wall: :wall:

We can get an outfielder later on. A decent one can be had for nothing after the deadline.

Obviously the Yanks don't think much of Willis!

Duncan AND Hughes? They might.

The problem is we can't include Hughes.

Doubt they'd be interested in Duncan + their pick of 2 minor league pitchers: Henn, DePaula, Bean, etc...

Ouch. Rather hold onto Cox too, but I'd have to agree to those 3. For Willis though, not Abreu.

BTW - We haven't had Cox and Henry a year yet, have we? Don't think they can be dealt yet.

Still think Willis would struggle in the AL.

He might. He's currently struggling in the NL.

However - A 24 year old lefty Cy Young runner up, nice kid, who seems like he could have the makeup for NY? I'm interested.

There are very few sure thing pitchers out there these days.

No he isn't. The 2 or 3 that are will never hit the FA market.

Sometimes you gotta roll the dice.

Not if the dice is Phil Hughes. :peace:

Agreed.

However, if they were to move Hughes (and I'm not in favor of it) I could live with getting a young pitcher like Willis back rather than some 30+ outfielder.

If I'm Florida I take Hughes for Willis in a second, but I try to get the Yankees to come up with a better second prospect, Duncan and Jacobs have similar upside. I don't really want Willis at all. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of his and he seems like a cool dude, but there is no way he'll be worth the cost. Abreu over Long is a much better improvement than Willis over Chacon imo. If Hughes gets traded Cashman will probably resine because it probably means George has went back on the agreement he made to give Cashman control over the team.

I don't think I could live with Hughes for Willis. If Hughes gets traded it better be for Santana, Liriano, Peavy, Felix Hernandez, or somebody like that.

I don't see why that would push Chacon out.

Moose
The Big Lesbian
Willis
Chacon
Wang

+ Wright as the 6th man.

Not necessarily. I could see Cashman pulling the trigger on a Duncan + Hughes for Willis trade. Not only might Willis help tremendously right now, the guy could be a fixture in the rotation for the next dozen + years.

Is that a guarantee? No. But neither is Hughes.

I guess I forgot about Wright. Your right, Chacon would stay in the rotation, especially if Pavano stays "hurt".

If your going on "stuff" and "cost effectiveness" I think you gotta go Hughes and Duncan over Willis. Willis has been pretty inconsistant on a year to year basis and has been pitching most of his games in a pitchers park and a pitchers division. He relies mostly on deception, his strikeout numbers have gone down every year. It just doesn't seem like a Cashman move to me, Wang maybe, but not Hughes.
