Newsday is reporting that Roger Clemens and the Astros have agreed to a one-year deal.
Newsday says Clemens will get about $3.5 million per month under the terms of the deal.

Why even comeback to a 3rd place team for only 10 million? f*cking Cashman should have made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Now we're gonna give up Huges for Dontrelle :-|

Pettitte and that shreaded elbow of his can stay there.

His lack of COJONES is now on display! I find Clemens just as pathetic as RJ now. He had an opportunity to further his legacy, instead...........he pussed out like so many thought he would, and took the easier road to the Hall! Talk about a stat padder!

On the positive side........Boston didn't get him either, so its time to look elsewhere for the pitching we so desperately need!

Better Houston then Boston, but BC is right, that leaves Willis as the only option! :no1:

I'm not convinced Willis will succeed in the AL. Houston is denying the report, which means it's inevitable.

 I can see Willis as a flop in the AL. We will have to find someone quietly or maybe go after a pen guy and use the strong bullpen approach.

I'd love to get Willis, but I wouldn't want to pay the price Florida will ask.

NEW YORK - Roger Clemens is coming out of retirement for the third time, agreeing to a $22 million contract to pitch for the
Houston Astros for the rest of 2006.

The Astros called a news conference Wednesday to announce the agreement, a lawyer in baseball familiar with the negotiations said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the Astros had not yet announced the deal.

Clemens is agreeing first to a minor league contract that pays $322,000 over the five-month minor league season, and his first start is likely to be at Lexington, Ky., the Class A team where his oldest son, Koby, plays.

A LOT more money than originally stated.

22 million for the rest of the season makes him the highest paid player in the game.

Boston's final offer to Roger Clemens was reportedly for $21,000,021.
How cute. Clemens ended up signing a $22,000,022 deal with Houston. "If Roger had picked Boston, their offer would have been sufficient," agent Randy Hendricks said.

:smirk: Must be the money.
