Giants cut Will Peterson, sign Rob Johnson

Probably the prudent decision to cut him. He was injury prone and it didn't look as if the back was getting better. His career might be over. One of my favorite players; very underrated. Didn't break up a lot of passes and didn't make plays so he didn't get the attention or put up numbers, but his cover skills were Pro Bowl caliber and he was a tough tackler (ie. William Henderson). I liked him even more because of what was across the field from him. The injury came against the Chargers. He took on Lorenzo Neal on a strong side toss play and got crunched up. But he took it like a man and even stayed in the game. Maybe he'd have been better off doing the Carlos Emmons and laying down to avoid the block.

Johnson....at least he can scramble and has a nice completion percentage. But he's injury prone and the only fast mo'f*cka I've seen that would sit in the pocket and refuse to run as the rush came. In just 29 starts he's been sacked 140 times. And he's coming off Tommy John surgery and hasn't played since 2003. A nothing signing. Just another quarterback on the roster who will reinforce the fact that if Eli Manning gets hurt (misses more than 2 games), they're f*cked.

I'm not overly excited about the corner situation now that the season is getting close. Peterson's back situation is f*cked up; they actually wanted him to break the bone so it could heal, but it ended up getting stronger, so I understand cutting him, but R.W Mcquarters and Corey Webster as our second guy next to a on the decline, from assessments, Sam Madison, not real excited. Wish the team had the cap room to overwhelm Ty Law, but we're going in with what we got.

Any spin in my head, can't really put a positive spin on signing Rob Johnson unless he ends up the 3rd stringer. Our line DOES NOT give the QB a lot of time, despite Eli's relatively decent sack totals, and if he was in the game, it would be like watching Warner get sacked left and right by the Bears, in which my sanity was tested.
