Jorge Posada has a torn hamstring tendon in his left knee and will be sidelined at least a few days.
A DL stint isn't expected to be necessary, but the Yankees will add a catcher prior to Friday's game, either Wil Nieves or Koyie Hill. Posada might be ready to go early next week. Kelly Stinnett will start in his place. May. 25 - 8:51 pm et

A torn hamstring tendon and he should be ready by next week? As Vinnie would say, I "dought" that.

If he sprained his hamstring he would miss two-three weeks minimum. I don't know what "hamstring tendon" is located in the Knee, but I can't see how it could have anything to do with the actual hamstring if he's only day-to-day.

I guess it's behind the knee because he was saying how the strap to his shinguards puts pressure on it. If we don't know more about it by tomorrow, I will ask my dad exactly what it is, and how if affects you.

I wish they'd just give Nieves or Hill a shot to start instead of that piece of sh*t Stinnett. No way they could be worse.

Hill might be. He looks lost at the plate at Columbus. I saw an at bat tonight and he's hitting something like .130. I'm fine with giving Nieves a shot and actually I do agree, I'd prefer Hill over Stinnett, just because we know Stinnett is useless.

They should call up Navarro and give him a shot. Oh wait.

I had the same kind of injury when I was a sophomore during baseball season and it only lasted like a week and I played on it so if he's resting it he should be fine...it feels like a back injury cuz the tendon connects in the lower back

Thanks for the info! Hopefully it won't be more than a few games then. I read the Yankees have requested Nike to create a shin guard with padded straps, so it doesn't apply as much pressure on the tendon. Hopefully it will arrive quicker than Pedro's padded Nike cleat.

I always assumed that if you tear something, you'd probably need surgery. How is this anything different or some major rehab work. How is this anything different?

:please: Here's da rub. Both Hill and Nieves are out of options and will have to clear waivers when they are demoted after posada returns...

I guess now all of you Posada haters get to find out what 80% of other teams go through at the catcher position.

Michael Kay was saying that it sounds more serious than it is (the connotation for "torn tendon") because it's a tendon that isn't necessary. It's most often what's used in tendon replacement surgeries - I guess like skin grafting. Posada expects to catch on Sunday.

Did they bring up another catcher?

I saw Hill in the dugout. My sauces tell me Matt Smith went down, and Sturtze was transferred to the 60-day DL.
