Looks like we may have something with Melky. They better hold onto him. I knew last year was too small a sample size to judge him by. |

I'm not sold. Props for what he's done so far but something about that boy bothers me. And my ballsack still gets tense when a fly ball is hit toward him. |

Sheff would never have had that slicing ball down the line that Melky caught. I'm gonna give this guy some props and smile. Yankee farms system is working for a change. George has spent zillions on tired old dirt bags and it's our minor kids that have the heart. |

Agreed. He scares me out there sometimes, but I am hoping that's something that will improve with age and experience. Think about last year. He was 20 and came up from AA to play CF in Boston. That had disaster written all over it. Had he even stepped foot in a stadium with an upper deck? Melky looks like a keeper. |

I like him. Don't love him, still unsure if he's a long term solution to RF because thats where he'll end up. As early as next year Damon could end up in left with someone else in center and Matsui at DH. But for now I like his approach and i'm impressed with his arm. Been one of the bright spots to the injury filled season so far. |

Cabrera can also be a 4th outfielder who plays 4-5 days a week next year. Yeah, they want him playing everyday, but he can easily alternate between the 3 outfield positions, either giving Matsui, Damon, or Sheffield (if he's back) a half day off in the field if they're DH'ing, or a complete day off, which they need. It'll happen with Matsui now that the streak isn't a factor. Then if it works out, he could be an everyday guy when Sheffield leaves. |

Call Oakland. Melky's value is up a bit. See if they'll take Duncan and Melky for Zito. ;) |

No. You just wanna come in low with your initial offer. ;) If they'll take Cano and Melky for Zito, I'd pull the trigger immediately. |

You guys wouldn't do Duncan and Melky for Barry Zito? :wtf: Sorry, but you're both nuts. Even Matty would make that trade. (I bet.) BTW - Don't worry about it happening. If you called Beane with that offer he'd laugh for a week. |

I would prefer not to trade Melky, especially not for a guy that we can sign in the offseason. Duncan, however, I don't mind trading. I don't think he'll ever turn out to be as good as people once thought he'd be. |

So MELKY is holding up a Zito deal for you? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: Zito will never hit the FA market. He'll be traded with the negotiating window I just mentioned. |

No, I wouldn't. I do think he will hit free agency. Beane seems to deal his guys in the offseason (Hudson, Mulder, R. Hernandez) or lets them walk (Giambi, Tejada, Damon, Isringhausen). |

That's certainly a possibility. I don't think Zito will be a good fit anyways, so I'm against getting him, especially if it means giving up young players for him. |

BTW - I'm not as in love with Zito as you guys think I am. I always bring up his name because he's usually the best rumored to be available guy out there. |

I'm not completely against trading Melky. Due to his inability to go back on the ball I don't feel he's a good fit in Yankee Stadium Left and Center Field, that could improve, but who knows. I think he'll be a Coco Crisp type player with less speed and he'll only be good in RF. I wouldn't trade him for Zito, I've made my feelings about him known, but I wouldn't let Melky be a deal breaker just because he's young. |

I'd trade him for Halladay or Santana, but not for Zito. |
