Agreed. Last week before we started our road trip I was saying that when they face Beckett the key is to get him early. We got two here, but we can't rest on this. We need more. |

I thought Matsui had hit that better also. From the crack of the bat I figured warning track at least. Oh well. 2-0 through 1, now we just need Randi to hold them off the board and to score more runs as the game goes on. |

Be fair though. Beckett just grooved a fastball instead of conceding the walk. I understand the mindset of not giving up free runners, but when you haven't established off-speed and are throwing fastballs left and right, you're not in a position to be grooving |

Varitek grounds out. I'm unsure of what RJ's capable. He isn't locating well, but he's also making sure not to miss over the heart like he usually does. |

Yeah, and especially to a guy like Giambi. He'll usually make you pay and that's exactly what he did in that ab. |

Spoke too soon. That was a slider down broadway that Lowell just took. Now Lowell grounds out. 2 away |

Two quick outs. Lets get one more quick one and get right back at the plate. |

Nice f*cking 1-2-3 inning by RJ, exactly what you want after you put a couple on the board! |

Excellent inning. That's how it's done, I don't care so much about K's, just get the outs and keep them off the board. Now Beckett needs to get right back out after a long inning. Lets tack on. |

Giambi isn't usually good against the power guys. You could see it on one of that balls where the pitch was nowhere near the plate, but he was flinching to swing. He has trouble laying off the hard stuff. But when you put it down broadway, not many in the business can miss it, especially when you're hot like Giambi |

Posada, 1 pitch, 1 out. He usually works the count even when he does make out pussily |

I didn't like Jorge's approach there. But then again, I never like what he does. |

Cano late on two fastballs. I figured he'd have a good matchup here. |

Don't get me wrong, Beckett has a fastball to get major league hitters out, but when that is ALL you're throwing and your location isn't pinpoint or the ball isn't a Mariano cutter, you should be getting hurt, especially against the Yanks |

Beckett with two sick breaking balls to K Bernie. You had to know he'd whip those out sooner than later |

I can all ready tell this ump is going to piss me off. Now, I'm not a proponent for looking at third strikes, but that didn't seem close to me. |

Yeah, what the f*ck? 1 pitch, 1 outs basically ruin those ABs where you work the count. It's even worse when he's leading off the inning and Beckett isn't exactly incapable of granting some free passes. |

It was a strike. The pitch had great late break to it and probably initially fooled the ump like it did Bernie. I think he's consistant though, since he gave RJ a questionable one against Varitek |

Yeah, I looked up quickly and it looked low, but on the replay I saw it was a strike. Good pitch. |

RJ's slider is being left right down the middle. Pena's groundout was a hanger, as was his to Lowell. |

The slider is gone, there is really no other way to put it. Simply put, he's just going to have to rely on other pitches. |
