A-Rod will post great, numbers, but if you need a hit in the clutch, you know he'll come up, very small. |

A-Rod could hit 70 hrs, i don't care. Deliver in the f'n playoffs! He's not alone, most of this team has done squat when the pressures on. |

Yeah, he certainly isn't the only problem. Only guy I trust in a big spot is Matsui, and even he wasn't great in the playoffs last year. |

It's basically the same offensive team with the addition of Damon who gives us another bat, some speed and little more offensive flexibility, but he’s only one guy. I don’t think any of us expected much of a difference from last year. I’m afraid that Sheffs bat speed may have slowed down a bit and he has to commit himself earlier so he looks like a doofus on some pitches. I think he has become more of cripple hitter. If he guesses right or is ahead in the count he can still crush the ball. But a good pitcher can make him look bad. Of course maybe he needs Barry Bonds to once again send Sheff Bond’s personal trainer with a quick fix for his problems. It also seems that a decent pitcher who is not scared of this lineup and goes right at these guys can shut them down. When they face someone who’s afraid of them and afraid to throw a strike they score a ton of runs. I still see 95 wins. But, hey what the hell do I know? |

I honestly don't think you're far off on that. In fact, I actually have them doing better in the playoffs than last year. They'll win 95-97 games, however, it will only be enough for the Wild Card (Boston will win 100+ games and have Home field for the playoffs). Then, a miracle will happen we win the ALDS, but are then quickly dispatched in 5 games by the eventual WS Champion Boston Red Sox. :no1: I hope these guys prove me wrong, and actually start playing like men and win the Division and go on to bring home WS Championship #27. But lets be honest, from what we've seen this early can we really say this year's team is a championship team? Are they REALLY that much better than the teams of the last couple seasons? I don't think so, and I may even be giving them too much credit thinking they can get to the ALCS. All the signs point to us being disappointed again. It's the same old story. No defense, no clutch hitting, no pitching, and of course, no managing. |
