4-0 lead and we should be crusing to f*cking victory! If Jeter fields that ball cleanly we win, NO IF"S AND"S OR BUTS DAMN IT! That to top it off Canoo decides to get in on the act adn make matters worse!!!!!!!!! If A Rod and company figure out how to hit with RISP in the second game and Matsui didn't need a road map to track down a fly ball we win the second game. Get used to this boys, we'll win our share of games still and probably win the division, but we will have plenty of games we just hand to the other team and if it gets to out of hand we might just indeed hand the division to somebody else. You need to play defense to win, this team simply doesn't do it. Up the middle this team has to be the WORST in the league! The pitching isn't bad at all, so far it's been good, you can thnk the defense for these last two games! |

Yeah, there's nothing we can really do about it despite seeing it and it sucks. I absolutely loathe Sheffield out in right field; he does basically nothing right, whether it's bad jumps, no hustle, lollygagging to balls while runners advance an extra base or throwing like he's Bernie. Like you said with Matsui, this guy just hasn't picked up leftfield; he has very little instincts. You even see it on the balls he catches, he almost panics on every flyball. His hat comes flying off just about every flyball to left. I mean, he's got good traits, such as the quick release on his throws and he's got good range when he has a beat, but that sh*t don't matter when you can't properly read flyballs off the bat. He's just not comfortable there. He's a CF despite his lack of speed. That's his best by far. Anyone that argues in favor of Jeter being a top of the line glove can kiss my ass too. I might be a party pooper when it comes to when he won the Gold-glove, but that's because that award should be for someone that can actually catch grounders in the hole and to their left and right, especially a SS. I don't mind limited range for a 1B like Giambi, since I think he has solid hands, and maybe even a 3B, which is where Jeter should play, but SS? That's horrible. You won't notice it if you don't pay attention, but there's always balls that end up the outfield that a good SS gets, but Jeter won't. As far as Ken Oh is concerned, he's got the reverse problem of Jeter IMO. He's actually got good range, but it seems he's not vacuuming up balls right at him like he should. He's making me worried like Soriano used to when even the most basic of groundballs comes towards him. I expect improvement, but who knows? I can't naive expect it just because he's young. He's cost us games with his errors. Add in Posada and his pisspoor defense behind the plate, and yeah, we're definitely not in good shape defensively. |

Absolutely agree. That said. I'm also sick of these bitch pitchers on this squad. Your teammates are going to make errors from time to time. When it happens, you man up and pick your teammates up. You don't become a f*cking pansy like Wang was Wednesday night. That doesn't absolve Jeter of blame. But Wang's performance after it was unbelievably pathetic. |

True. He's gotten a pass too. That bothers me. |

It's not like the error was made in a 4-3 game either. It was still 4-0, and he just lost it. Looked like he lost all his confidence, he started overthrowing like an idiot, it was a joke. The ump didn't help either, but if I go blaming the umpire for us blowing that game I'm not really looking at the big picture. |

Wang's control was a little off all game. He wasn't hitting his spots perfectly the whole game, but was effective, and then you had Posada having him nibble the corner on Dan Johnson after the error, I was flabergasted. You been challenging guys all day and just because Jeter botches a DP, you start nibbling like you're Tom Glavine? I couldn't understand that. Then Brad Lee gets into a favorable count with the nibbling, which leads to a 2 run single. It was just poorly executed pitching by Wang and gamecalling by Posada just because of one error. Wang has certainly not received a pass. I think Posada has culpability too. Play to your strengths, which is that hard fastball that was inducing groundballs all game. With that said, I don't want to sound like a broken record, but Wang was criticized largely because he only throws basically his fastball, which I've defended in the past, since he's very effective with it. Well, where's the mention of his changeup that had batters looking silly when he used it? He was also, I believe, although it wasn't effective or breaking, implementing a splitter. He seemed to obsess over getting the Ks a little more than usual. Last year, he made batters put the ball and play was very effective. If he can get the Ks along with the groundballs, I think we'll all be very pleased. |

Posada is definitely a joke. It's bad enough he sucks at the plate, at least call a good game though. Except for the maybe three people (that includes his boyfriend Derek Jeter) who still like him, I can't think of anybody who would shed a tear if that a-hole was shipped out of here tomorrow. |
