Kerrigan should have been PC. I'm sick of all the cronyism in this organization.

I didn't think it could get worse than Stott. Looks like I may have been wrong on that. There had to be better options out there than this guy.

There are better options within the organization. It was just a stupid move to make a guy with no coaching experience outside of ST the picthing coach.

But it's Gator and he's a big name and he struck out a bunch of guys in that game and he won a lot of games thirty years ago and we've got the most popular assistants in our coaching staff.

Why in the mother f*ck would a man so far removed from pitching, who has no coaching experience be the best person to take over as pitching coach of a veteran staff? With young pitchers, he can simply point out fundamental flaws and teach them the basics. Pitching basics from before his time that transcend eras are valid today. But with a pitching staff, sans Wang and Proctor, that all have 8+ years under their belts, you need to be able to point out the most of the subtle. Tell __ what he did wrong on his last 3 pitches that he wasn't doing a year ago when he was having success. Willie Mays wouldn't be able to take a job as a hitting coach now and be good at it. It's an "in the mix" type of thing. And right now, Guidry is the black licorice Chuckle that's got no business f*cking with them other flavors.

:no1:

btw - What the f*ck is he? He looks shiny white (you know the type. not true white, but doesn't look not white enough to be half-black) and he's got an accent. I've wondered about this for years. I know he's from Louisianna but is he French? The French don't look like that.

I don't know, Johnson gave him alot of credit and pitched very well in the opener. Wang looked real sharp until he unraveled after Jeter's error. Even Mussina pitched well. And as a former Yankee and extremely successful one he's got credibility with the pitchers. Mel was before most of the current staff's time but I'm sure alot of guys watched Guidry throw up all those K's years ago. If anything I could see the staff responding more to taking tips from Louisiana Lightning to Mellow Mel.

Johnson ain't gonna not give him credit. A player's word, especially this early in the season when a hatred - if there is to be one - hasn't even had time to develop, is empty. And Randall didn't pitch that well. The results were good but the performance itself wasn't impressive. That sounds weird but it makes sense.

I'm sure they had all heard of Guidry, but none of them were from New York so I doubt they watched him much. Plus I don't think it factors. Why should they care? I think it's basically "Coach is coach...."

I'm not so sure about that one. Look at the Knicks and Larry Brown saying he thinks some players are tuning him out. Different siutations with Brown having a much better track record, but I could see a similar scenario with Stottlemyer. But you bring in a guy like Guidry who was the pitching face of the organization much more recently then Stottlemyer was on the team and I would imagine, or at least hope it would bring a "this guy knows what he's talking about" attitude.

The Knicks have tuned out Larry Brown because all he's done is talk sh*t about them and the record is 20-54. If you're getting ripped while trying to adjust to coach's system, and still sucking, with 8 games left on the year, there's very little reason to care.

If the Yankees pitchers were tuning out Stottlemire, it's because they're all over 35, had over 200 wins, and have been pitching a certain way for probably 20 years. Change is not that easy and they'd probably see no reason to change. If Mel went up to Randy last year and said, "You know, you should come from a 3/4 angle instead of near-sidearm. I know it's not what you've done, but I think..." Johnson's reaction would be, "Pfffft. You sound just like my baby-moms, nag nag nag!" With a staff this old, everyone is pretty much set in their ways. The coach's job is to give tips and reminders and point out subtle things. That's why I don't blame Mel for last season or the year before. If he was giving bad advice to 18-year veterans, they'd have just ignored him and done what has gotten them success. It was their own f*ck ups. I don't think Guidry will have much an effect either.

I have a novel idea. How about these proffesional, highly overpaid, pampered ass whores, take responsibility for sucking for a change. The list of excuses is growing way too feckin long. Pitching coach is nothing but a figure head once the season starts anyway, they aren't gonna learn anything new now. Guidry gonna tell em he isn't breathing through his third eye? Gimme a feckin break. This team is soft as whaleshit, and it bettergrow some balls soon, cause they ain't gonna get away with another season like last year!
