I think he knew Rob was disappointed in the pre-game batting practice show, so he wanted to catch him up by putting in Proctor. Rob, you happy now?

This sh*t is never going to change with Torre. I expect to see this alot more as the season goes on. He has zero f*cking clue how to manage a bullpen. ZERO!

I can only imagine how good this team could be with a guy like Lou. He wouldn't deal with the f*cking bullshit of some of these guys, but more importantly, he damn sure wouldnt' manage like an ass. This was complete stupidity and I can't see how anybody, even the biggest sunshiner, could defend this.

I'm not gonna go that far and give up yet. But there needs to be accountability for bs like this this season. And somebody needs to tell Joe, TONIGHT, that he can not just throw games away like this, just because he feels like it, and not get any crap for it.

Guys. You know what the f*cked up thing is? That we've done this before. Torre has embarassed himself and the team so many times and so many times we've pointed it out. But the Torre lovers keep loving Torre and they think we're dumb. And this is just the second game of the season. It isn't a huge loss so in September when we're ripping Joe for another stupid decision and one of them asks "How often does Joe make a big mistake?" we won't even remember this. And it'll be the same thing probably 20 more times this year. That's why I wanted to do the Torre mistake thread last year but I gave it up.

And there's also the dumb moves that don't result in a loss because he gets bailed out.

A friend of mine who is a Mets fan said yesterday - after I told her that the Yanks are underdogs and all things factored, the worst team in sports - that the Yankees would only be underdogs after going 20 years without a championship, suffering several heartbreaking playoff losses, and when the manager is a cryogenically frozen Lou Piniella.

The comment just set up perfectly for me, didn't it? They might just go 20 years. They're a quarter of the way there. Painful playoff losses.... And I'd BEG for a Ted Williams'd Lou Piniella corpse to manage this team. It would be an upgrade. At least we could count on the body to not make bad decisions. And I bet that a dead Lou would still have more life and fire than tea-sipper, seed-sucker, half-asleep Joseph Paul Torre.

^ And it's true.
